I apologize in advance if you’re offended, but there are so many more ordinary Americans, whose names we shall never know, who are so much more deserving of our eternal honor and respect. It really puts me off how these media spectacles and disingenuous political melodramas tend to bestow exaggerated accolades, and deify fallen politicians who simply and voluntarily ran for the privilege of public office. Military hero? Yes. Political demigod? No.
Yet, these same people remain ambivalent, or worse, about the hundreds-of-thousands of young ordinary Americans, who were not military “Blue Bloods” or 81-year-old political “Mavericks,” whose only claim to fame was that they either volunteered or were drafted to sacrifice their lives for America. Their only aspiration was to return home to their loved ones alive. Thankfully, there are no aristocratic hierarchies to be found in our National Cemeteries.
Totally agree but the part about his being a military hero is open to dispute. There have been accusations about him and his behavior in the service that are unsettling

“there are so many more ordinary Americans..who are so much more deserving”
yep, like the guy who cleans the restrooms at the local Walmart.
You know this is the point Trump was making when he said he preferred heros who were not captured
The entire distorted evil media legion is in full fury against him today
We know what he meant
McCain was a victim of circumstances which he himself helped to cause
Hero should not be a spectrum term
Jeremiah Denton
James Stockdale
The MIAs who never came home and were left behind by Senator John McCain in exchange for a trade deal and photo ops in North Vietnam
THEY were heroes

Amen
I have known and still know many military heroes. My wife and I come from military families and she sets up amazing displays honoring these men and womens’ memories. We just did an event yesterday at a museum near Joint Base Lewis McChord. Every time I hear someone call McCain a “Military hero” I cringe. Mostly people who are unaware of his true military record are the ones who do that.
Calling McCain a “Military hero” devalues the memory of those who truly were and are heroes. It is like when liberal politicians decided every surviving WWII veteran should get a Bronze Star. This devalued what was an incredible honor and made it basically nothing. My wife once told someone her dad received a Bronze Star and the person responded that everyone in WWII got a Bronze Star... Her dad earned his, but we know a bunch of WWII vets who never even went overseas who got Bronze Stars. This was just another way that liberals spit on our military. Calling McCain a “Military hero” is the same.
Agree with what you said 100%.
McCain was no hero.
Was Bo Bergdhal a hero?
Starting with the 134 dead crew of the USS Forrestal (CV-59).
