Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has ordered a study of a potential full handgun and assault weapons ban in his country.

Trudeau ordered Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction Minister Bill Blair to conduct the study with Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale in a mandate letter, according to CBC News.

“You should lead an examination of a full ban on handguns and assault weapons in Canada, while not impeding the lawful use of firearms by Canadians,” the letter stated.

The letter also outlines other new assignments, such as forming the government’s plan to deal with asylum seekers who skirt official border points — which the letter calls “irregular migration," supervising the legalization of marijuana and fighting opioid abuse.

The gun violence issue rose to prominence after a deadly shooting struck Toronto in July.

At the time, Trudeau vowed the government would take steps to ensure the public safety, but did not say if that would include a handgun ban.

The shooter used a 0.40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, which he obtained illegally by breaking and entering into a gun store.

Police have not concluded what the shooter’s motives were. ISIS claimed credit for the attack shortly after it occurred, though police have said they have “no evidence” that the the shooting was linked to the terrorist organization, according to CBC News.

Without the support of the provinces, this sort of thing is likely going to sink fast.

What outfit will he wear to celebrate its passing? Lederhosen? A Tutu? A Turban?

Canada already has strict gun control laws.

Criminals can easily get guns in spite of them.

And gun confiscation will disarm them, how exactly?

Don’t credit Lil Justin with the intelligence to recognize the obvious.

A bans on guns are racist.

If you dont believe me, talk to a liberal about as a first step, ban on one segment of the population. Doesn’t matter who, just pick a race, color, or anything as the divide.

Ban Blacks?
Ban Muslims?
Ban Asians?
Ban Jews?

When they object, ask them why.

In Canada, criminal law is an exclusive federal matter.

I thought Canada has harsh Gun Control Laws. What they need is the recognition that human beings, unlike the rest of life on this planet, have a right to defend themselves from miscreants in and out of government.

Sure because a gun ban targets law-abiding people first.

And leftists think the rest of us are stupid.

Talking out of both sides of his mouth, characteristic of leftists concerning issues which effect ordinary people.

Agreed, but the provinces can likely sue and even use the “notwithstanding” clause in the Charter as to not enforce a ban. I can see a great deal of opposition to this in Alberta, the Prairies, and Ontario (where Premier Ford has already announced his opposition to such a ban). Trudeau is already losing the battle over this in the media, as the generally shared sentiments are that such a ban will only affect the law abiding and not the criminals or mentally deranged.

Getting tough on guns will likely not stop the general disappointment many have with Justin, as the latest news about NAFTA and that Mexico got a new deal with Trump before Canada did and on other fronts.

A report that likely will go to sit on the shelves.

Lil Justin doesn’t have to face the voters til 2019.

“You should lead an examination of a full ban on handguns and assault weapons in Canada, while not impeding the lawful use of firearms by Canadians,” the letter stated.

Not impeding the lawful use of those very narrowly defined classes of firearms approved by the government, such as bolt action rifles and double barreled shotguns. All pump, lever, and semi-automatic actions will be verboten.

Alberta’s socialists are living on borrowed time:

The new conservative party according to the polls, is headed for a landslide win.

He’s stronger than Ontario’s Liberal Premier who headed a minority government heading into this summer’s election.

Trump is about to teach the younger Trudeau a lesson about
trade deals. He is desperate to change the issue.

Maybe he can borrow his father's uniform. It's not being used anymore. (That gesture, by the way, is Latin American for "be careful, don't trust that guy" ... thought it especially appropriate)
