I miss the rule of law.
“The police are there to protect citizens and property...”
So who “owned” the statue those ass hats decided to topple?
Time for some soul searching and a law suit or two.
The town government and the police didn’t agree with the statue, so they just stood by as it was taken down and damaged.
Remember that if you think the police will protect you.
It’s clear that they are willing to stand by and let a mob take care of anything they disagree with.
No one should expect a policeman, regardless of rank to throw himself or his men into a fray that its obvious that the police would be severely outnumbered and possibly over ran. This is almost common sense.
BUT,
At that exact moment he should have called the governor of the state and rolled in the National Guard for track greasing and head busting. Sheriff FAIL!
I disagree that is exactly what I expect and demand. You don't just do your job when you have overwhelming odds in your favor. If you are afraid of being hurt you should not be an LEO because you will get hurt at some point. It goes with the job and every LEO knows it.
The problem here was not the LEOs it was their cowardly "chief". I am sure the LEOs would be more than happy to wade into the crowd of miscreants and start busting heads regardless of the odds.
The "chief" should be replaced ASAP and fined for the damages.
To Protect (Leftists) and Serve (Soros).
Chris Blue blew. He is a disorderly son of a bitch that needs to be cashiered.
Clap him in irons and book him as an accomplice, co-cospirator — whateverthehell applies. Fire him. Torpedo his pension. Boot his ass into the State pen, and melt the key into a locket his wife can wear to remember him by.
I refrain from broad-brushing the cops; it’s like everything else: ya got good apples, bad apples, and all kinda apples in between. I know a few LEO’s personally, and all of ‘em are good guys who — if they got an order like this; they’d be sick to their stomachs and thinkin’ about a career change rather than follow like lemmings.
But, on the other hand, yeah you do have the “duds” in the ranks. I remember listening to the scanner feed the night they bagged that terrorist who’d been part of the Boston Marathon bombing. No sooner had they confirmed the guy was in custody than some bonehead member of the rank-and-file came on open freq with something like, “We oughta get that pension increase after all this.”
The weeds and the wheat grow up together ‘n’ we oughta try harder to separate ‘em before we just toss it all into the flames.
>>I know a few LEOs personally, and all of em are good guys who if they got an order like this; theyd be sick to their stomachs and thinkin about a career change rather than follow like lemmings.
You look at the small things to get an idea for how they behave on the big things. I know a few LEOs too. Most of the time they are great, but put them in a situation where they have to defend the Thin Blue Line against criticism and the knives come out.
The problem is the majority of chiefs of police are political hacks who do the bidding of their politician bosses. There are many good lower level street type guys.
” And the troops just followed orders.”
—
Of course they did,he’s the boss-———that’s what people do when the boss gives an order.
If they don’t,they are fired.
If they object to the order——they can quit.

I agree the sheriff is a idiot but this is the environment our law enforcement lives within. Regardless of what we expect or demand from them or the weapons of war they get from the Feds to do their jobs, backing down, collecting the pay check, going home every night, and staying in good standing with the union are paramount. Citizen safety and property rights of the lawful arent even close to secondary concerns.
In a rational community, the chief of police would now be among the unemployed.
