I agree. The sad thing is, we could have capitalized on that effort. Instead we cast of the team like used toilet paper.
A couple of months ago the 49th anniversary of our landing on the Moon went almost unnoticed.
We could have been the discoverer of other worlds, and we sat back in the easy chair and did nothing.
Look at how long ago we developed the SR-71 Blackbird. What did we come up with to replace it? (I actually think we did, but where is the real world capitalization on any of that technology?)
Eh, what the heck. Trump is at least trying.
Great, ANOTHER movie I’m not seeing.... ugh...
I have now not watched any tv for 3 yrs, and haven’t seen a movie since Girl With Dragon Tattoo came out...what, 8 9 yrs ago?
If you keep making liberal crap, I’m not watching...
The planting of the flag was the spiking of the ball following the winning touchdown of a Russian/USA football game............The touchdown of course being the first landing on the moon.
The Flag is a recognition and tribute to US Taxpayers who paid for NASA. That’s why they don’t want it.
Will not watch....
Reminds me of that recent Entebbe movie that portrayed the hijackers sympathetically. Which no one saw.
I'm not from the US, but the US flag on the moon is a bloody iconic thing. I was 7 when Apollo 11 landed and watched the whole thing avidly when it was broadcast on the news, and all the special programmes on the BBC dedicated to it. I remember wearing a spacesuit to school on one particular day and I wanted to be an astronaut for many years after that. In a sense, then, it was a global event as it triggered the imagination of people the world over. But it was an American thing.
Paid for by American gay payers.
In my personal experience knowing a number of Canadians I remind myself they are of two minds like we are...They have their Leftards, and they have their conservatives...
Ryan Gosling (actor), nor any of the other Canadian citizens who come here to cash in on the opportunities the USA offers while running their mouths full tilt bad-mouthing us, don’t speak for all Canadians any more than our homegrown variety Leftard speaks for all of us...
I’ve been told by a Canadian friend about half of Canada would love to rotate the border 90 degrees and give the eastern half to Ottawa, and the western half join the USA...
If we expected an accurately portrayed patriotic rah-rah, flag waving, pro-USA product out of Hollywood, we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment every time...They just (mostly) don’t have it in ‘em...Gotta twist the story to fit the globaloney agenda because that’s who most of Hollywood are and they can’t help themselves...
Hollywood makes more profits overseas than from domestic box office.
The HELL it was! The world may have watched. The world may have hoped. But it was the USA that accomplisherd the feat! Remember, it was the left both here and abroad that was bitching about spending the money for this when "...so many are starving."
"...one world event", my ass!
Part of the America was never great leftist narrative.
This also omits that the space program was a battle with the Soviet Union a space race that we won.
Chinese money owns Hollywood now. They might have requested this. Or the leftists thought it was too patriotic.
I also see a WW2 movie is out featuring an integrated US Army and black Ranger. Oops! Didnt exist. But its a horror film so doesnt matter as much.
First Man is a supposed to be a historically accurate bio pic.
Btw, saw flags at half mast today at post office for McCain. When Armstrong died, Obama refused to show Neils family the same respect.
you know i was just quoting someone else? I know it was all the USA.
Had you put it in italics, I might have had a clue.
As posted, it did not appear that way and triggered my old man “get off my lawn” reflex
it’s all good. have a good weekend and keep those brats off your lawn.
I wont see it.
My son is a space geek. He’s an Astronautical Engineer at NASA. He’s a patriot. We were discussing this movie today. He really wanted to see it but is disgusted that they use it as a vehicle to denigrate America
