What flag will be planted on Mount Suribachi? A UN Flag? Rainbow? Stay tuned for the next remake of the taking of Iwo Jima...

instead of being an American achievement, it was a “human achievement.”

The USA flag was placed there by US government employee, and paid for by US taxpayers. It was a human achievement, thanks to the USA.

Is this equivalent to knocking down a Confederate statue to rewrite history? Or is it like erasing people in photographs like the Communists do?

Is the film attempting to accurately portray the moon landing? Not very accurate to skip an exceedingly important piece of the history in connection with our our moon landing.

It could be a fatal error to the financial success of the film.

A caller to today's Limbaugh show was correct when he said that was a "space race" between the United States and the Soviet Union; between Kennedy and Kruschev; between Yuri Gagarin and John Glenn; between the achievements of capitalism versus communism.

I followed the "Space Race" avidly throughout the 60's. I was twelve when they landed on the moon. My go-to guys for space coverage were always Frank Reynolds and Jules Bergman on ABC. I remember that at the time of Apollo 11, the Soviets were supposedly attempting (or said they were attempting) to send some sort of unmanned probe to the Moon which would dig up a scoop of moon dust ahead of the USA moon landing (I think this was merely propaganda). I remember Jules Bergman angrily denouncing that idea when he said "the Russians are beaten and they know it!". It was totally a USA/Soviet space race.

Don’t like history—Why just change it! Soviets have been doing that for a century. Hillary didn’t win—just change it so she does! Maybe America will wake up to such lunacy. What do you want to believe—a high sounding lie—or the Truth. You can only hide the truth for so long. The German People were told they were winning victory after victory. They were winning until the allies rolled in. ONLY one way to stop this—VOTE GOP—make November a Red Tidal wave and end the Leftist Media propaganda.

TYpical Canadian! Jealous, jealous, jealous.

We should demand that Canada take their name off of the robotic arm on the International Space Station. After all, it's humanity's space station.

It was WAR carried out by other means …

Astronaut Frank Borman called the moon landings "just a battle in the Cold War."

Exactly. “This moon-landing funded and brought to you by the hard-working, tax-paying citizens of the United States of America.”

Agree.

The moon landing(s), especially the first one, was one of the most significant events in human history. That part of their alibi is correct.

It was also the crowning achievement of a decade-long race of wills, scientific, and industrial power between the United States and the then Soviet Union. It was a dramatic struggle because, at that time, the two sides were neck and neck competitively in space technology and it was not at all clear which side would win this important Cold War contest. So it was also an AMERICAN achievement then and now. And an essential part of that victory was planting the US flag on the Moon.

It is possible for the moon landing to be both a great human achievement and a great American achievement at the same time. How did such “smart and creative” people manage to completely miss the expectations of Americans, the largest single audience for this film?

The movie will tank and the entire creative crew (writers, producers, director, and actors) will deserve the blame. And the sad part is that this issue could probably be fixed with some clever inter-cutting of archival stills, audio, film footage and a minute or two of set work to get some fill shots. No, instead they are going to allow the Canadian to try to BS the potential audience.

Bad optics, tone deaf. The whole lot.

Nothing like filming a probably spectacular movie and then shooting yourself in the foot on the most important part.

Yeah, unless they fix it, I probably won't be seeing it either.

Check out the producers and distributor for the movie. This was never going to be anything other than cr@p.

Thanks for the mention. I don’t know enough about any producers to know how they’ll spin a movie. These days I just accept that 99% of them will.
