Stick to basic facts that are clearly provable.
The “Songbird” stuff is not provable. Plenty of fellow Hanoi Hilton ‘inmates’ have spoken very favorably and credibly of McCain’s experience in the Hanoi Hilton, and the stories that claim he was a ‘songbird’ have the same credibility as those claiming that McCain was the one responsible for the fire on the Forrestal (which is to say...zero credibility.)
Consider that J.F.Kerry had the vast majority of his fellow ‘Swift Boat Veterans’ - come out AGAINST Kerry. OTOH - the vast majority of McCain’s fellow sailors and aviators are supportive of his service. To me - both are telling...Kerry’s service was shameful (because of all the lies he told...both to get 3 band-aid Purple Hearts as well to get out - and all the lies he told when part of the traitorous group “Winter Soldier”.) Nothing that McCain did in the Naval service approaches Kerry’s betrayals of the integrity of those serving.
Dustoff,
Heartfelt post, thanks and God bless.
Great post.
Which one is Meghan’s mom? Mrs. McCain #1 or Mrs. McCain #2?
To this article, add another, regarding his abandonment of fellow POW’s and abuse of their families, and get a good glimpse of the abusive, narcissistic, sociopathic creep that was mccain:

Isn’t it amazing how the MSM have been obsessed with Trump’s indiscretions, but not McCain’s.
You have most of the story correct, but not all.
Carole Shepp McCain was John’s first wife and he was her second husband, having previously been married to a USNA classmate. That marriage produced two sons, Douglas and Andrew, which John formally adopted and together he and Carole had one daughter, Sidney.
While McCain was imprisoned Carole was in a horrid automobile accident which, as you correctly noted, left her disfigured and several inches shorter. Not wanting to add to John’s worries, she and his parents did not inform him of her accident, so upon his release he came home to a different looking Carole.
Carole would later remark that “John was 40 and looking to be 25 again.”
I don’t know if anyone else caught this, but big mouth Joe Biden let it slip during his eulogy that he played a yuge part in facilitating the meeting of McCain and Cindy, when he said (to Cindy remember, I was with Jill) and I said, “John, go talk to her..!” McCain was the military laison for the US Senate and he was accompanying Biden in Hawaii at that function where Cindy and her parents happened to be! Biden KNEW John was a married man!
If you receive HBO, it produced a special titled “John McCain, For Whom The Bell Tolls. It’s all one-sided, (he’s the hero) but Carole’s two sons and Carole herself are featured and the sons speak about the hurt they endured over Cindy and the quick remarriage. Sidney also appears.
Carole and John managed to overcome all the bitterness and became very good friends. I think they talked by telephone very often and I think she was at the private services today at USNA.
I have my own opinion of McCain. My husband was a classmate and personal friend of his back then so he knew him quite well. They were both 17 when they first met.
Had a Coworker lower flags without my knowledge last Tuesday, I left them down at half mast for the USS. Forestall.
Has the first one ever voted for him?
Please don’t wait 10 more years to post. This was very well written. Thank you.
AMEN!
Ya done good.
Great post, and you highlighted just one of McCains notorious examples of his bitter entitlement character flaw. He was hand carried through his career based solely on his military heritage and bratted his way through young adulthood into the political image he became.
He was a lousy cadet
He was a lousy officer
He was a lousy pilot
He was a lousy husband
He was a lousy senator
The man was a first degree louse and a bitter, contemptible one at that.
Thanks for posting Dustoff.
HEAR HEAR!
I read that Ross Perot donated money for Carol’s surgeries and care. I wondered where the McCain family was.
Just a cheap shot on a dead guy. Give it a rest.
Benedict Arnold and King Solomon are two examples of heroic people and great warriors who went bad.
It is not what you do when young, it’s where you at when you die.
