Elon Musk has escalated his baseless attacks against a British diver, claiming without evidence that the man who helped rescue children from a cave in Thailand was a child rapist in an email to a reporter.
The embattled Tesla CEO faced widespread backlash in July when he first called the diver Vernon Unsworth a pedo in a tweet an unfounded claim against a man who was part of the international team that freed 12 young footballers and their coach from the Tham Luang cave complex. Musk, who had unsuccessfully attempted to assist the rescue mission, eventually apologized to Unsworth.
Unsworth, who said he was considering legal action after the original insults on Twitter, is now moving forward with a lawsuit, his lawyer said in an email to the Guardian on Tuesday: Elon Musks campaign of publishing vile and false accusations against Mr Unsworth is inexcusable. Musk hopes to be sued and he deserves to be sued. He will be.

Too much lithium on the brain?
Ambien side effect?
How the hell do they know he has no evidence?
The guy blustered a lot but has not sued Elon...
I know if I was accused of something like that I would be in court immediately demanding proof or a retraction, AND money damages- if it was someone as rich as Musk.
Good to see that Tesla, SpaceX and Solar City are running so smoothly, he’s got lots of time to chase down pedophiles in Thailand.
This will make investors nervous.
What is wrong with that ugly @ss guy?
Bet musk knows something. And face it, a single Brit man moving to Thailand means one thing only.
Well at least he didn’t call him a catholic bishop...
2004 statistic. Available figures estimate that some 30,000 to 40,000 children, not including foreign children, are exploited as prostitutes in Thailand.
This seems to have started when the diver decided not to use Musk’s coffin sized capsule to ferry the boys out of the cave. Apparently Musk couldn’t take hearing someone say “no.”
If the board of directors value their company and shareholders, they need to cut this guy loose like yesterday.
That was my thought as well! Judging by the medias response, Musk is probably on target

“This seems to have started when the diver decided not to use Musks coffin sized capsule to ferry the boys out of the cave.”
The diver was upset that he had no say in the decisions.
I would bet that Musk knows something. Thailand is a hotbed for the child sex trade, as disgusting as it is to even type that term.
Plenty of people moved to Thailand because it was very cheap and doesn’t have winter
“If the board of directors value their company and shareholders, they need to cut this guy loose like yesterday.”
Maybe. The entirety of Tesla is a cult of personality built around Musk, though. Cutting him loose might be worse. He’d be certain to crap all over the company.
On the other hand, Musk isn’t stupid. He may be trying to get forced out so as to distance himself from the inevitable lawsuits when the company goes belly up. The entire thing is a Ponzi scheme.
Elon! What are you doing?
You need to take a two year vacation and put someone else in charge. Otherwise, the board is going to replace you with someone who is not in the throes of a meltdown.
Even if your charges are true, this is not the way one deals with accusations that serious. You must know that.
