Rahm Emanuel's Problems Were His Own Creation
Townhall ^ | September 5, 2018 | John R. Lott, Jr.

Chicago’s rampant crime rate left Rahm Emanuel with little choice but to withdraw from the city’s mayoral race. One recent poll showed that only 31% would vote for his re-election, and 62% wanted to vote for someone else.

EXCERPT Chicago’s low arrest rate is the result of poor political decisions........

Mayor Emanuel took three measures that undermined the effectiveness of the Chicago Police Department:

1) Closed detective bureaus in Chicago’s highest-crime districts and relocated many to distant locations.

2) Disbanded many gang task forces.

3) In cooperation with the ACLU, instituted new, voluminous forms that have to be filled out each time police question someone in a criminal investigation. This mountain of paperwork gives police less time to patrol neighborhoods.

The state of Illinois is adding its own paperwork. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is now trying to require consent decrees after the Trump administration abandoned the Obama administration’s proposed.

A draft decree leaked in July contained a long form that Chicago police officers would have to complete anytime that they point a weapon at someone or even draw it. In some parts of the city late at night, it has been standard practice for police to draw their guns when they are investigating disturbances.

The question I would have....will you just end up with Rahm version 2.0, or will you get some person on some law-and-order campaign?

Two terms of the failed mulatto faggot and all of it's cronies dispersed throughout American politics and civil society could not overcome the truth of America that we will NOT cease to be good and thus WILL be great.

Locals will must needs be the task force to keep track of these denizens and ... ahem .... bring them to justice.

“will you just end up with Rahm version 2.0, or will you get some person on some law-and-order campaign?”

I suspect the problems in Chicago are structural. The primary problem is they are spending the bulk of their money on things that will never bring down crime. Those are too many bureaucrats, too high salaries and too many benefits. The costs of those are well past the point where ordinary taxation can sustain them and the city has run on borrowed money that may never get repaid for more than a decade. Given that, they have no maneuver room to change anything. Even if you elected conservatives, they would have no possibility of changing the basic structure that has been in power since the fifties. There is little or no possibility of undoing what has been done to wreck Chicago. It would take total bankruptcy and a judge to come in and run the entire city and restructure the government, the taxation and waive away the unpayable debt. Won’t happen. Things will continue more or less the way they are for the foreseeable future.

He boarded the train as the engineer, but the tracks had already been laid. The train wreck is now inevitable.

They need to elect a Trump type.

Surround him with massive security and protection and let him fire every rotten, anti-American son of a bitch in every department.

Screw the results of no one in any office.

It won't last long and how could no one in charge be any different that the ones NOT DOING ANYTHING ANYWAY ?

We have been given a miracle example in President Trump and if my experience with Chicago-ans is any indication, there are some tough SOB's that want the job to clean up their city.

JUST DO IT !

“They need to elect a Trump type.”

My read is the courts have prevented any meaningful reform.
