Why? Because Democrats understand full well that Sessions, of all people, could end up being pivotal to preventing President Trump from covering up the findings of special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIs investigation.
Its a complicated and interesting situation and its unclear where its going to end up.
A few days ago, the news broke that in a recent court filing, former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos contradicted Sessionss previous sworn testimony about how Sessions reacted when Papadopoulos proposed the idea of Trump meeting with Vladimir Putin during the 2016 campaign....

George Papadopoulos contradicted Pretty sure he is serving time for LYING, so he's not credible by definition. Besides, this guy was smaller than a small fry.

He was convicted for trying to protect the President, and has refused to cooperate with Mueller. That gives his accusations agsinst Sessions, who Trump has now directly compared to that traitor Eric Holder, significantly more weight.

It says Washington Post on the masthead. They had two seconds to interest me in the substance of their article. Time is up.

But in the filing, Papadopouloss lawyers claimed that in fact, Sessions appeared to like the idea and stated that the campaign should look into it.
That’s all they got? Yawn.

"So they're basically just chasing their tails while distracting the entire government?"
To wit: "Now, per CNN, Democrats are holding back in going after Sessions over the discrepancy, because they worry that if they go too hard at Sessions, it could provide Trump with a pretext for firing him. But note why they fear this (emphasis added):"
RARF! RARF! PANT PANT PANT (chase tail).

No. He lied about when he met Mifsud.
Not that he met with a Western Intelligence asset that fed him illegal information in a highly coordinated frame job of the Trump campaign and later the Trump presidency.
Not that he didn’t get the data about e-mails, just “dirt”.
Not that he tried to do anything illegal.
Basically a traffic ticket that resulted in 14 days in jail.
