Yes, Cruz outpolled O’Rourke in the their respective primaries, but the energy in TX is on the left now, with so many blindly following liberal state media.

So true, TX Republicans will be architect of their own demise if not in 2018, surely by 2024.

Well, O’Rourke is campaigning like Trump, non-stop, and he is not in D.C. physically. TCruz seems absent from the state a lot. People in TX can be easily fooled.

I think TCruz has consistently underestimated his opponent. He has only 54 days to turn this around, or he will lose by 2 to 3 points.

We have folks here who would like to see him lose because they’re still so pissed at how he conducted himself in the campaign/election/post election....they haven’t a clue that he is one of the more effective tools Trump has at his disposal right now and would do the pathetic spite thing - like cutting off their heads because they had an eyelash out of place - I’m going to donate some to Cruz...

Since the case is closed, there is no point to further discussion.

It’s difficult to take these predictions seriously if coming from polls. On 11/8/16 polls said, loudly, clearly, and often, that “Texas is in play”. It wasn’t. They were trying to discourage GOPs from going to vote.

That’s not even getting in to the prediction of 96% win for Hillary across the board.

My paternal and maternal ancestors fought in the American Revolution. The Culpeper Minutemen formed on my ancestors plantation. Thanks for informing me I am not welcome.

You come to a Trump-supporting, conservative forum and crap all over the conservative Senator that Trump has endorsed, after the primaries have been fought, and right before a tough election.

Whose side are you on exactly? Clearly, not President Trump's.

You have the stench of a troll all over you.

Beto signs are rather prevalent in San Antonio as are his commercials on TV and Radio. He has so many fooled thinking he’s a Latino.... that name is a clever gimmick.

Exactly. Beto Pancho is a true Democrat in the legacy of grifters Bill and Hillary Clinton. Texas is better than that. I am curious that Steve Hilton (?) on Fox Sunday did a segment calling Cruz a Swamp dweller. I don’t like the Englishman and I wonder if he will do a segment on the real O’Rourke. Anyway, Cruz is great for Texas and America.

Maybe these polls encouraged Republicans to get out and vote? How many Democrats stayed home because they were so sure that Hillary would win?

I would think that polls showing a tight race or even a Democrat lead would motivate Republicans. look what happened in Alabama. 650,000 Trump voters stayed home. They loathed Roy Moore but they were so sure he was going to win anyways.

We have a complacency problem going in to 2018. Democrats are highly energized. Republicans aren't so much. You can feel it in the air.

I hold true strife against him for his obvious disdain for the Constitution.

Most idiotic post of the day, possibly the week.

Any tiny glance at his resume proves the rank stupidity of your assertion...

The landmark case of DC v. Heller? Yeah, that was Ted Cruz that drafted the amicus brief signed by the attorneys general of 31 states, which said that the Washington, D.C. handgun ban should be struck down as infringing upon the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Van Orden v. Perry? Yeah, that was Ted Cruz that successfully defended the constitutionality of the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds before the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, winning 5–4.

Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow.? Yeah, that was Ted Cruz who won the high-profile case surrounding a challenge to the constitutionality of requiring student recitation in public schools of the Pledge of Allegiance (including the words "under God", legally a part of the Pledge since 1954),

Medellin v. Texas? Yeah, that was Ted Cruz who also successfully defended the State of Texas against an attempt to re-open the cases of 51 Mexican nationals, all of whom were convicted of murder in the United States and were on death row.

Ted Cruz has sponsored 25 bills of his own, including:
S.177, a bill to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the health-care related provisions of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, introduced January 29, 2013
S.505, a bill to prohibit the use of drones to kill citizens of the United States within the United States, introduced March 7, 2013
S.729 and S. 730, bills to investigate and prosecute felons and fugitives who illegally purchase firearms, and to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms through straw purchases and trafficking, introduced March 15, 2013
S.1336, a bill to permit States to require proof of citizenship for registering to vote in federal elections, introduced July 17, 2013

Cruz had a leading role in the October 2013 government shutdown. Cruz gave a 21-hour Senate speech in an effort to hold up a federal budget bill and therefore defund the Affordable Care Act.

Even in college, Cruz's senior thesis at Princeton investigated the separation of powers... Cruz argued that the drafters of the Constitution intended to protect the rights of their constituents, and that the last two items in the Bill of Rights offer an explicit stop against an all-powerful state

1997-1998: While with the firm Cooper, Carvin & Rosenthal, Cruz worked on matters relating to the National Rifle Association, and helped prepare testimony for the impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton.

2000-2001: Cruz assisted in assembling the Bush legal team, devising strategy, and drafting pleadings for filing with the Supreme Court of Florida and U.S. Supreme Court in the case Bush v. Gore during the 2000 Florida presidential recounts, leading to two wins for the Bush team. Cruz personally recruited future Chief Justice John Roberts to the Bush legal team. (He was not 30 years old yet!!!!!)

2003-2008: Texas Solicitor General... Cruz authored 70 U.S. Supreme Court briefs and presented 43 oral arguments, including nine before the United States Supreme Court. Cruz argued before the Supreme Court nine times, more than any practicing lawyer in Texas or any current member of Congress.

Your post is garbage.

*mic drop*

Birthers are butthurt that Ted Cruz didn't declare himself ineligible to run for president.

Cruz is Constitutionally ineligible to ever be President, yet he ran anyhow.

Your post is designed to not acknowledge that simple fact and draw attention away from it.

Cruz loves the Constitution except for that part that constrains him from further political ascension.

Ted will most likely win, but his big mistake is that our side wants to see a fighter. A fighter that doesn’t let others do the fighting in the background, but a person who is bold enough to stand up and not allow the other side to trash him.

The other side does not view gentleman conduct as anything but pure weakness to exploit.

“Democrats are highly energized. Republicans aren’t so much. You can feel it in the air.”

Here in the Knoxville area of TN I feel in the air that Republicans are highly energized. All I know plan to vote — no matter what. It’s important, too, with the Bredeson/Blackburn race.

You could be right — your “take” on different possible reactions to polling numbers. All I can say is that every Republican need to crawl on broken glass to vote, no matter how safe things might seem.

Also, if a Dem asks when election day is, it’s “Tuesday for Republicans and Wednesday for Democrats”. (Just kidding; I don’t speak to Dems and they don’t speak to me. It works.)
