Horror: Five People Were Killed In A California Shooting Spree Last Night

There was another tragedy in California last night. A spree shooter shot and killed five people, including his wife, and then committed suicide. Authorities say this was not a random shooting, that all of the victims are connected with this senseless act of violence, and that the spree arose from a domestic dispute (via NBC News):

Six people, including the gunman, were dead following a shooting spree in Bakersfield on Wednesday that authorities believe was an act of domestic violence, Kern County sheriff's officials said.

It was not clear why the man went on the rampage, but there may be a connection between the shooter and the victims — all described as adults, Sheriff Donny Youngblood told reporters.

The gunman shot himself as at least one law enforcer approached him, Youngblood said.

[…]

Sheriff's officials said there were multiple crime scenes, including at the trucking business and near a gun seller called Bear Mountain Sports. The area of the shooting spree was in unincorporated Bakersfield, which is patrolled by the sheriff's department.

Youngblood said detectives believe the gun store is not connected to the spree. A victim happened to be in the area and was chased around the building before being shot, he said.

Youngblood said at least a single handgun was used in the attacks, and he did not know if other weapons were deployed.

Police said the final report in this case could take a long time, as there are 30 witnesses to this heinous crime—all of which need to be interviewed. In the meantime, brace for more unnecessary and over-the-top anti-gun rhetoric from the usual suspects.

You can’t have guns in California.

" He was quite distraught regarding what this guy was doing with his daughters."

so he murdered them just to save them?.

there is NO reason ever to murder children.....

guys who so "distraught" like this probably were unhinged from the get go.

I agree with your sentiment.

Howver, I also look at it this way: If you poke a bear enough with a cattle prod, don’t come crying to me if he takes your arm off.

I seem to recall people noting the “active drill” thing, it seems like several times now. I don’t know how many nor the specific incidents.

You are using the generic dictionary layman definition while null and void is using the specific social science/law enforcement definition of a technical term.

One is more correct than the other.

To rise above the random chance level real research and actual math is required.

But somebody intent on committing a mass murder might think doing it at one school while a planned drill is held at another would further ensure confusion and delay response, because everyone is preoccupied at the drill.

This may be an error because the 1st responders are all ready geared up so it may actually decrease response time.

Remember, CNN was airing live the Sandy Hook school shooting. Problem was, they were airing the drill at Lanza’s actual old school, Rosa Lima. And just who was the FEMA dude in charge of that drill and who had just recently trained the fire dept.? None other than the SH fire chief’s and SH elem school secretary’s (who made the 911 call and who hid out for over 4 hours with the school nurse (who had multiple names) in the very office closet where the cops staged their HQ) son.
That hasn’t been the only time. Too many weird coincidences.

They are both correct. I appreciate you adding the context.

The 911 operator who KNOWS there is a drill may quite reasonably dismiss a civilian call at a nearby address as just someone who saw the drill and in their excitement named the wrong school.

It might take several calls from different people for the realization that there really is an active shooter at the other school to soak in.

Say 3 calls, a minute each? That's about the average duration of an active shooter event. It's a long time if you're being shot at! It's also very fast for a response once the call get to the local LEOs

Remember...

No.

Any real evidence of such?

All true, which is why choosing a scheduled drill day for a mass shooting at another location would be attractive to a shooter. It’s also a finger in the eye to perceived authority and society which would also increase its value the theses socially maladjusted killers.

The same pattern of drills and coincidences is found in terrorist events. For example the 7/7 bombings in London.

Police completed a terror training exercise which envisaged an attack on London's transport network just days before the 7/7 atrocity, an inquest heard today. During the 'table top' drill, officers were asked to respond to imaginary bombings at Waterloo, Embankment and St James's Park Underground stations.

Can’t find the original at CNN but, again, you’re a big boy and can search it out yourself. Where were you that morning, huh? Weren’t you watching CNN like most of the rest of the US? If so, then you saw it so quit with the name calling?

Or are you disputing William Halstead, Sr. was the fire chief? Or maybe it is that his first wife and mother of William Halstead, Jr., a FEMA Emergency Management Analyst for that region, was the one who made the 911 call and stayed inside the school? Or that Junior did a drill with the fire dept. shortly before? You can find that drill reported in the local newspaper but guess you’ll just chalk the local paper, the Bee, up as another whack job and the recorded/live 911 calls are more whack jobs. Let’s see, FEMA is a whack job, the Bee is a whack job, the police recordings of the 911 calls are all whack jobs. Go back to DU where you belong.
