An intern in Sen. Ted Cruzs (R-Texas) Washington, D.C., office was reportedly arrested on Capitol Hill this week for possessing unregistered ammunition.
U.S. Capitol Police told CNN in a statement that officers responded to a dispute between the intern, Scott Frantz, and another individual in Franzs car near the Capitol.
Police found shotgun shells in the back of Frantzs vehicle and arrested him, according to the report reviewed by CNN.
The 20-year-old was charged with possession of unregistered ammunition, a violation of D.C. firearm and ammunition possession restrictions.
An aide for Cruz told CNN that Frantz has been placed on leave. A spokeswoman for the senator said the office does not comment on pending law enforcement or personnel matters."
The Hill has reached out to Cruzs office for comment.
unregistered ammunition?...................Time to drain the swamp......................LIKE TEN YEARS AGO.................
This should actually help Cruz
“Unregistered ammunition?” WTF?
Will we hear mock outrage from the MSNBC crowd about gun nuts working for Cruz?
Watch Beto O’Rourke try and make hay out of this and shoot himself in the foot.
Ya got me...
How bad was the disagreement? Were the cops looking for an excuse to arrest?
For crying out loud! What a crock!
How does one ‘register’ ammunition?
Does it have serial numbers?
I lost all of my unregistered ammo in a tragic boating accident. Damnedest thing is, I was too drunk to remember what lake I was on....
Uh oh..... next it will be the 22 short that fell between the seats.
One spent .22lr case stuck in the tread of your boot is unregistered ammunition in DC.
>> “ Were the cops looking for an excuse to arrest?” <<
Worked for Cruz!
Yep - there’s enough laws out there to put us ALL in jail.
I wonder if after one shoots their weapon they have to account for all of their spent ammo?
“So then Mr. Jones, it says you have 100 rounds registered - but we only count 50. Care to explain the discrepency?”
BTW - It is really disconcerting to go on a job on a military base, get the vehicle searched every day, and then once home after a week of going in and out the base, realize there was a loaded magazine underneath the back seat.
Do you mean “Capitol” crime?
Sounds like a set up to me.
Planted ammo. Then an anonymous call to the cops.
And if a democratic intern was caught - this never would nave made the news. Nor should it. This is the very definition of a non-story.
They should comment. Most likely a Texan cornered by a DC Cop. Like Brave New World.
Registered ammo? Is it gonna fire itself?
Huh? Never heard of such infringement upon the US constitution.
This will earn Cruz votes in Texas.
