Conservative news giant Matt Drudge on Friday made a somber prediction about Republicans’ chances in the November midterm elections, predicting President Donald Trump will see his party lose 60 seats in the House of Representatives.

Drudge, who runs the influential Drudge Report, compared the upcoming midterms to the electoral bloodbath Democrats suffered in the 2010 midterm elections under former President Barack Obama.

I don’t consider Matt Drudge a “conservative” (actually I don’t consider myself a conservative).

Regardless I see no evidence that the Democrats with no real message other than they hate President Trump is going to overcome a booming economy.

As that famous politician once said “It is the economy stupid”

I bet many democrat leaning companies buy ads for his page which is why he posts such nonsense.

I haven’t been to his page in a very long time.

Republicans will need a DT—— Department of Therapy- to cope with that outcome!(/S) Like Democrats in their last loss to Trump.

No doubt Drudge is a Never Trumper .

Doubt. Drudge recognizes that being unpredictable keeps people coming back to his site. And if you want to be unpredictable, there's always something in the news to have an opinion about.

Until the day after the election, we should be concerned.

“Thinking of Republicans as the political adversary of the Democrats was your first mistake. The two parties only disagree on who will eventually own you and I.”

Like it or not, Trump chose the Republican Party - and he stronger if they are stronger.

Feel free to vote for and advocate for more true conservatives in the Republican party - you are absolutely right that many of the current republicans are not our friends and need to be primaried.

But arguing that there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans plays right into Democrat hands and harms the President and his agenda.

Is that what you want?

Why is he a concern troll for looking at the polls? We are losing in them. Are we down as badly as the media says? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be worried none the less. The stakes have never been higher. The Republicans need to get it in gear. I am seeing way to many ads from the Democrats and not enough from the Republicans.

Our side should be working like we’re way behind

Define "our side".

Is Paul Ryan on "our side"? Is Kevin McCarthy?

The people you think of as "our side" are TRYING TO LOSE.

And that's exactly what they are going to do.

And the Republicans may lose 60 seats, I don’t know. But while this midterm may seem to be a ‘national election’ it is in reality 435 separate local elections. A few may be state-wide races like Wyoming, but most are much smaller. Urban districts are going to vote D, but then, they aways do. But you have to ask yourself, do most people in the suburbs really want higher taxes, fewer jobs, higher unemployment? I kind of find that hard to believe. But national polling just doesn’t make sense for HofR races.

Thinking of Republicans as the political adversary of the Democrats was your first mistake. The two parties only disagree on who will eventually own you and I.

Kinda of dumb statement given the difference in economic policies passed by the respective parties and the judges being appointed to courts.

Drudge doesn't know, just like we don't know. In a decent world, we would have been adding seats to Congress after every census, then 60 seats wouldn't matter a hill of beans.

Why 435? It's the elephant in the room no one considers. 1 rep to 720,000+ constituents was never meant to be. 1:60,000 or 1:100,000 is much more reasonable. Distributes the power and allows the plumber, accountant, secretary, or janitor to run for office, instead of career bureaucrats.

Again, why 435? It ain't in the constitution as 435.

I don’t feel like most of them represent the American people any better than the Ds

The number of help wanted signs in my area suggest otherwise. We've got the best economy we've had in 20 years and Congress deserves it share of the credit for it.

And, McConnell, for all his flaws, has been doing a pretty good job of getting judges confirmed. And, there couldn't be a bigger difference in the kind of judges being nominated by Trump as opposed to Obama.
