Sometimes you get a million dollars in to a part and you make a mistake.
If it is not critical you repair it rather than scrap the whole thing and start over.
You would never achieve anything if you only have perfection.

'Traces of drilling have been found not only inside the spacecraft's living compartment,' said the source. The damage was also 'on the screen of the anti-meteorite shield that covers the spacecraft from the outside and is installed 15 millimetres from the pressurised hull'.
Looks like BOTH inside and out...

The Russians are saying it was made from the inside, possibly by someone on the ground before launch.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

2 millimeters is quite small and gives (gave) the crew lots of time to isolate and fix the problem. If it were real sabotage, they would have drilled something quite a bit bigger.

"Another anonymous source said the whole was drilled by a worker who hid their mistake with a seal instead of reporting it. " So it may have been accidental?
To: LibWhacker
SpaceX Dragon 2 has no holes and plenty of space for your stash.
To: LibWhacker
I see no reason to hide the mistake when the Russian space agency can just replace the part for about 5 times what the worker makes annually.

How many astronauts are up there, three? And a computer... at least one of them is crazy. And it is a long way home.

Any Indians aboard the space station, or at the factory making parts? I heard that when they make rugs, they intentionally put a flaw in the pattern because only the almighty can make perfection.

Sabotage aboard the International Space Station? MORE evidence of 'drilling' has been found in the docked Soyuz spacecraft, Russia claims Mueller has mobilized his team to investigate this clear case of efforts to effect an election.
