What idiocy. The rising levels of the Neuse , Black and the Pee Dee rivers is NOT due to rising sea levels from melting ice packs (which, if so, would mean equally catastrophic rising of the Potomac, James, York, Rappahannock,East,St. Lawrence...... etc. rivers everywhere, and all over the world- it ain’t happening).
The rise is due to RAIN coming down the basins into the rivers, meeting up with the 10-14 ft storm surge as it recedes (particularly true in New Bern and Wilmington) which occurred in the TWO high tides while Florence slowed to 3 mph
But then we smart FReepers know this— and algore-basm is a freaking moron still trying to release his chakra (ie get some massager to take his hand off it, so to speak).
I live near the head of the Potomac.
The river is a mile south of me.
It’s been in or near flood stage constantly.
WeatherBug chirps me “flash flood/flood warnings” every few days.
All. It. Does. Is. Rain. Now.
My yard is a swamp.
The ground simply cannot absorb another drop.
We had precious few riding days this “summer” because if wasn’t raining, it was cold.
February, the monsoon season starts and *used* to go until the middle of June.
This year, I’m still waiting for the end of it.
So. Much. F***ing. Rain.
Feel like I’m living a Ray Bradbury short story.
