Bozell Warns Rep.Jordan: Social Media Perpetrating ‘Greatest Worldwide Censorship’ in ‘History

(snips) ---

• In a conversation with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Facebook Live on Wednesday, Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell declared the recent censorship of conservatives "the greatest worldwide censorship" of free speech in "the history of man."

"In recent months, there has been a debate that has now exploded on the national scene dealing with the subject of censorship and the power of a handful of tech companies," Bozell said. "When you consider that Twitter and Facebook have over a billion of an audience – NBC News has four million, Twitter and Facebook have a billion - it's worldwide."

“And when they make rules on, quote, unquote, hate speech, and rules are, are designed to censor conservative thought, you've got-- technically-- the greatest worldwide censorship of free speech in history, in the history of man," Bozell said. "It's that dramatic."

• Rep. Jordan said he considers conservative censorship “a very serious” threat, pointing to recent reports of Google’s bias: "I mean, extremely serious. And it's not just people who have complaints or beliefs about what's going on-- there are facts. We saw the story about Google. Their silent donation to impact how the searches were going to help Secretary Clinton in the presidential election against President Trump."

The negative influence of "social media" on the November elections may be (as the MSM uses every minute these days concerning The Carolinas) "catastrophic". I don't see how anything can be done to minimize their purposeful, dark influence before the elections.

Maybe EVERY VOTER in the country should see Steve Bannon's new informative film, "Trump @ War".

what was disgusting was the FakeNewsMSM coverage of the recent hearings. all over the world they were framed as being about foreign interference in US elections. Warner was widely quoted.

5 Sept: BBC: Facebook and Twitter ‘too slow’ to tackle meddling
By Chris Fox
Responding to lawmakers, Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said the social network was “too slow” to act on election interference.
Twitter’s chief executive Jack Dorsey said his platform was “unprepared and ill-equipped” for the “weaponisation” of debate...

The senate committee focused on what the technology giants were doing to prevent future election meddling.
It followed claims that Russia and other foreign actors spread misinformation and propaganda ahead of the 2016 presidential election...

“With the benefit of hindsight, it is obvious that serious mistakes were made by both Facebook and Twitter. You, like the US government, were caught flat-footed by the brazen attacks on our election. Even after the election, you were reluctant to admit there was a problem,” said Mr Warner...

6 Sept: Guardian: Google snubs Senate hearings on election meddling
Facebook and Twitter executives are testifying in attempt to assure lawmakers they will protect midterm elections from foreign interference
by Julia Carrie Wong; Reuters contributed to this report
Executives from Facebook and Twitter testified before Congress on Wednesday in their latest attempt to assure lawmakers that they are capable of protecting November’s midterm elections from foreign interference – but the loudest message may have come from Google, which was represented by an empty chair...
Warner, a Democrat, said the tech companies were not doing enough to stop the flow of foreign influence and threatened congressional action...

Lawyers for Facebook, Google and Twitter were grilled by senators over the course of two days last October, after the extent of the Russian social media influence operation was revealed. And Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, ran the gauntlet of the House and Senate in April, following the revelations of the Cambridge Analytica data harvesting operation...

instead of defending Conservatives from censorship by these companies, the Republicans are allowing the narrative of Trump/Russia election interference to continue to dominate.

I don't understand...
What is "twitter" and "facebook"?
Doesn't everybody get their news from Free Republic?

Seems perfectly fair & balanced to me.
Why would somebody go anywhere else?

;-)

"Yes. There is no free speech in the USA."

______________________

Since I don't know what you are saying (whether you are attempting sarcasm or not), let me add:

There is an abundance of free speech in America.

Unfortunately conservative points of view are being turned away, diminished, and outrightly prohibited nearly everywhere ....... in "education" of all levels and on these PUTRID anti-American "SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS" ---- these outlets are nothing but ugly anti-American propaganda vessels.

*****

On that matter, I happened to watch that demented GOOGLE -- 'SOB' tape the other day.

The worst thing about these LEFTIES is that they actually think that they are correct and good on all levels.

It's a sick media (and educational) world......... and I posted this article to see if anyone wanted to talk about what could be done about the overwhelming imbalance of permitted viewpoints.

Free Republic seems to be loosing steam on these important matters.

Back a few years ago there would be about 50 to 100 replies to this article by now. Not anymore.

Nearly everyone is beaten or gone on this site.

It's not good.

Google, the opposite of their motto “Do No Evil,” assists the Chinese government to identify dissidents (human rights, Christianity) as quid pro quo for business inroads.

Well, funny for a topic of free speech...but I think everyone - here at FR is tired of TALKING about things that we’ve all seen and understood for decades. Everyone is burned out about talk...that leads to no action. We have had plenty of discussions, on this and every other topic like it over the years, and we have had no action to change anything.

In a microcosm, you see on this topic the same tearing at the fabric as you see regarding The Justice Department’s inaction against the Deep State coup. Everyone on our side of the equation is sick of voluminous “talk” about matters that leads to...nothing.

Yes, the society and culture is owned by the Left with an iron grip. We have been talking about it here since the day FR started. And we have seen no (or very little) action from those we’ve supported over the years to actually change it. We are kind of talked out on this stuff. We are all ready, armed with dry ammo (I am speaking euphemistically here), to get in there and fight...but we are finished with endless talk that leads to nothing. We want action, and we won’t spend our precious time spinning our wheels, but we are dying to jump into the fight if only we could SEE action taking place. (Gee, I hope Trump’s lawyers read and consider this). I think most of us are done with wasting our time on things that lead to nothing but more talk.

Thank you for your honest and wise post.

I also do hope DJT and his lawyers read and consider this.

Thanks again. I have been here on FR for around fifteen years (different screen names), and I have appreciated your thoughts continually.

Now .... I'm going to ignore all the politics of the Anthem and go watch my Pittsburgh Steelers have a rocky game against the K.C. Chiefs!

Please be well.

We had a thread pulled for too much honesty even here on Free Republic.
