Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz has a 54 – 45 percent likely voter lead over U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, his Democratic challenger, in the Texas Senate race, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today.

This is the first survey of likely voters in this race by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll, and can not be compared to earlier surveys of registered voters. Among Texas likely voters who choose a candidate, 93 percent say their mind is made up. That includes 94 percent of Cruz backers and 92 percent of O’Rourke backers.

Women are divided as 50 percent back Cruz and 48 percent back O’Rourke. Men back Cruz 57 – 42 percent. White voters back Cruz 66 – 32 percent. O’Rourke leads 97 – 3 percent among black voters and 54 – 45 percent among Hispanic voters.

Republicans back Cruz 94 – 6 percent, as Democrats go to O’Rourke 94 – 4 percent. Independent voters are divided with 51 percent for O’Rourke and 47 percent for Cruz.

As stupid & crazy as Beto is, Cruz should be ahead by 90, not 9.

Cruz has 45% support among Hispanic voters.

That is staggering and it shatters so many outrageous propaganda lies about this race.

I have started seeing anti-Beto ads on TV now that take him to task for his open-borders/abolish ICE stance. The pro-Beto ad that plays regularly doesn't say much of anything much other than that we need to "stand together".

Incidentally, everybody pronounce's Beto's name like "Beta" with an "o" on the end. In his ads, Beto pronounces it like it rhymes with "meadow", but with an over-pronounced "T" sound like "Bet-Toe".

I would say Quinnipiac skews slightly left by 3-5 pts.

So this would suggest about a 12 point lead in reality.

Polls are rigged to manipulate voters. Now they must think its time to make Cruz voters feel complacent and scare Beto voters .

Foreign aliens and damned yankee invaders are doing their part in complicating our elections these days. Local, county, state & federal.

Don't know which market you're in, but that's an old one around here. They started running a new one a week ago playing video of Beta boy dumping on the national anthem and a Vietnam vet making a response.

Yeah, real lame - no issue being highlighted, basically it's kumbaya with Beta - or you're a petty racist bigot! Evidently that's his entire platform - have seen supporters of his repeating that exact pablum.

Would like to see Cruz shift gears on the advertising and escalate into MAGA stuff, not stay in the trenches of social issues where the left runs & plays - Beta boy has been coasting along with his "come together" feel good shtick, the time is nigh where he needs to get pounded into having to stake out concrete positions. That will be his doom.

I am in the Houston market. However, I do not watch much on local TV. In the mornings, I watch a bit of the morning news on KPRC for traffic and weather. I've been seeing the Beto ad about Ulysses and his sister on KPRC for weeks. I only started seeing the anti-Beto ad about 4-5 days ago.

There are several possible explanations for this result: A) Occam’s razor - the best explanation is the simplest - Beto The Fake Mexican was never in this race to begin with;
B)Texas is NOT about to turn blue any time soon; C) Beto The Fake Mexican has not fooled enough real Mexicans D) Beto The Fake Mexican spent so much time kissing ass in Hollywood begging for money, he forgot where he is actually running (thought he was the Democrat candidate for Senate in California) and supported NFL kneelers and demanded American
flags be taken down before he would rally in a VFW hall E) Trump’s approval ratings with Black and Hispanic voters is starting to bleed into even the leftist polls.
F) All of the above.
