Air Force enlisted chief: ‘Hybrid airmen’ needed to mitigate devastating war
Great Power War ^ | 9/20/18 | USA Features

Air Force leaders, like the leaders of the other military branches, are moving to quickly adapt the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy, which calls for a military-wide reorientation away from low-intensity conflicts like those in Iraq and Afghanistan to refocus on fighting major wars against great power near-peer competitors.

It’s important to note that other great powers such as Russia and China, along with regional powers like North Korea and Iran, have been studying the U.S. way of war for decades, and as such, they have developed tactics and strategies designed to exploit what they see as operational weaknesses should war break out.

I can’t take anything seriously from a website named “Great Power War”. It sounds like it was named by an 11 year old.

War among great powers.
This was a common war of putting it from the 19th century onwards.
As opposed to colonial wars.

The Sergeant has a point.
This is a definite strategic issue.
A major war will create high casualties and rapid change.
Different aircraft will have to be operated in different places, and the infrastructure and it’s personnel will have to adapt very quickly.

The bad example, for instance, is the French Airforce in 1940.
Too rigid, airbases were specialized and unprepared for rapid force movements, and moreover tied to peacetime routines, unable or unwilling to extemporize, leading to very low sortie rates. The French AF, in spite of adequate technology and well-trained aircrew, punched way below its weight. A definite contributor to the defeat.

One thing that is interesting is fighter jets can be made that maneuver so fast the g-force exceeds human tolerance. So autonomous fighter Jets are coming.

We don't call 'em surrender monkeys without a reason.

As a Cold Vet, I remember that many of us were cross trained to take on other responsibilities when and if necessary.

So does the fake analysis which appears to be written by some snowflake in the margin of her coloring book.
.
If you go in and blow everything up with little regard for collateral damage (damn the whiners and quizlings) then you win. We don’t need smarter specialized weapons. We just need rules of engagement like we used in World War Two and the Gulf War.

There are not going to be any more major wars due to the great powers having nukes. There will only be these pathetic, useless proxy wars, such as the ones now in the Middle East. The US has no business participating in these conflicts, and it is a horrible waste of our people and money.

Etiquette note: Chief Master Sergeants are referred to, and addressed, as “Chief”.
