Following his return to South Korea after a third summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, President Moon Jae-in told reporters he would like to see all countries that participated in the Korean War sign a formal peace treaty by the end of this year.
Technically, the two Koreas, the United States, and China all remain at war, which began on the peninsula in June 1950 when North Korea invaded the South. An armistice a cease-fire agreement was signed in July 1953. To officially end it, all four countries would need to sign a treaty.
In speaking to reporters, Moon was hopeful that would happen, and soon, after three days worth of talks with Kim that reportedly brought about progress on dismantling the Norths nuclear program.

Obama should definitely get another peace prize for this
It is not up to the United States to “end” the Korean War, it is up to North Korea.
Although the US did virtually all the heavy lifting in the Korean conflict, we were technically never at “war” with North Korea, we were there at the behest of the United Nations, who called this a “police action”.
Winning! More bad news for the Democrats.
Yes, Trump is just benefitting from all those bows Obama took!
lol
Let’s end it now.
A treaty to end the Korean war is premature.
There is not enough time for North Korea to do anything more than make statements of intentions. And there is not enough time for the U.S. to verify any denuclearization steps that North Korea could possibly make between now and year’s end.
A treaty must wait for complete and verifiable denuclearization. There could be a time table of declearization and a treaty, but the treaty would be a step that followed complete and verifiable denuclearization. There might be other “improvements” in relations along that timetable, but not a treaty until the nuclear threat from North Korea was dead; not just promised to be dead, but dead.
True———there was never a declared war.
.
If its going to be accomplished in the short term, lets do it before November 5
I know that this was a “Police Action” and not a declared war but our men deserve honor and America deserves a high place in what happens now and forward in the region. We are in a cold war with China. They are lucky that MacArthur was not allowed to kick the b*stard Chicoms a**. South Korea owes EVERYTHING to the American blood and sacrifice in that “forgotten war”. In the long run, North Koreans will also see one day that America saved them also by President Trump and his genius diplomacy and leadership. One day all of our men will be accounted for/returned home, Korea will unite and the American flag will rise at an embassy in North Korea. None of this would happen under Clinton.
End the war and the US will be forced to remove its troops from the peninsula. Is that what SK really wants?
