If you Drive around the San Fernando Valley there are literally thousands of sidewalk stores on Public Property selling crap everywhere. Around the Corner from me 2 Restaurants went out of business after 4 Sidewalk Restaurants opened up within a couple hundred yards. Absolutely Frikkin Ridiculous.

This happened to a small restaurant owner close to me, had a small burger joint GREAT burgers, a Mexican Taco truck started parking and selling food at night in the adjoining parking lot!!! Due to the fact they did not show up until AFTER 5:00 government offices closed he was battling a brick wall!! This truck was not inspected by health department probably paid no sales taxes or other taxes they ran the guy out of business in 6 months!! It was such a small little business but GREAT food I was so sorry to see this happen to him, I might also add that of course the truck paid NO RENT, or utilites
I have a friend whose sister has a hot dog cart in the plaza in Mexico and she has to get permits and is checked on by the local inspectors.

I dunno man. 9 out of 10 vendors will be güero hating mexicans. I’ll say it again...I am so beyond glad that I moved out of that screwy state!

By the way, the neighborhood of Rosslyn in Arlington, Virginia did this. Every food eatery went out of business within weeks, except Chipotlé and an Asian cafeteria. Of course, the “lunch trucks” are only there from like 12-2, so if you want food at other times, tough luck.
(To be fair, with lower rents, some new restaurants moved in. There’s a Starbucks, a Wiseguys, a Chopt, etc., but not a quarter as many as there used to be.)
