Grassley Crazy in Midnight Tweetstorm
Breitbart ^ | 21 Sep 2018 | Ian Mason

UPDATE: Approximately 90 minutes after the expiration of the 10:00 p.m. deadline, Chairman Grassley took to Twitter, where he made clear that, despite his repeated extensions, he is offering yet another extension to Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team, presumably until Saturday, for her to decide whether to testify, in line with attorney Deborah Katz’s demands:

“But can someone actually give ma a reason, a positive reason, to vote FOR a republican??!?”

To make liberals cry. Those tears make a great gun lube.

It does not how long of an extended extension is given to that accuser. The Leftists have already made it clear that they will not accept Kavanaugh. All a game. Get the vote on. The Republicans need to take charge ffor crying out loud!!!!

“He must give the appearance to the moderates and independents who are inclined to vote Republican that he is making a great effort to accommodate the lady.”

What makes you think these ‘moderates and independents’ don’t already see this charade for what it is? It’s crystal clear to everyone else.

Bogus excuse, Sa-teef. And by the way, Christine Balsey Ford is no lady.

If Kavanaugh is not voted, confirmed, and seated on the Supreme Court by Oct 1st (a Monday) then the Supreme court is basically deadlocked for an entire year with only 8 justices.

The Term of the Court begins, by law, on the first Monday in October and lasts until the first Monday in October of the next year.

Fortunately, what dim senators think doesn’t matter.
Unfortunately, he has to keep the rinos happy, and I’m guessing they are the ones pushing the delay.

Remember how they used to have midnight votes to pass stinky legislation the citizens opposed?

I think they ought to vote Thurs regardless of whether she testifies on Thurs or not!

Ya’ll are missing the true nefarious reasons this whole thing has turned in to the sh*t show.Hillary nailed it when she articulated it was Macedonian hackers. Even Q the biggest prophet since Nostradamus has missed it. Just wait until Monday when the Macedonian’s come clean and Jeff Sessions has his first bowel movement since last month.

Grassley has to look at the long game here.

If he plays hardball here as many on this thread suggest and is looked on as unfair by independents and moderates, Republicans could lose the Senate in the midterms.

If that happens then not only does Trump not get anymore Supreme Court justices confirmed, he doesn’t get ANY conservative judges appointed to anything.

For all his other faults McConnell has pushed through judges really well.

Does anyone here think Schumer is going to continue that?

But hey let Grassley please the fire breathers on FR because that is all that really matters isn’t it?

What’s more, the satanic left will have successfully tested a weapon they can now use to make sure their agenda moves forward.

It’s really the equivalent of a hit and run - make an allegation, then hide and let big media take care of the rest.

I will also bet that, if there is no vote, this will be the last white male nominee by Republicans for decades to come.

You’re oversimplifying the issue here.

If the hard line, of which you apparently are opposed to, was taken in the first place - when this charade all started - we would not be in this position now.

Maybe the Republicans should try to avoid alienating their own base and doing America right for a change.

Gee, hirn_man, do you think that would have changed things a little?

“The base will be demoralized BEYOND BELIEF.”

The true base is nowhere close to being demoralized. There is a small “no compromises” contingent (over represented here on FR) that thinks they are the Trump base.

They are not - Trump is not so foolish as to believe he can govern with no compromises. Neither is Grassley.

Obviously, in order to reach a majority, compromises must be made, coalitions must be formed.

Yet certain people here are always admonishing Trump and other party leaders to take steps that would not get majority support; and when they do not take those steps, they are called weak and spineless.

Grassley needs to make it very public that he has given her multiple opportunities for multiple days at multiple times and then, if she still doesn’t show up, the majority of the public will get that her non-appearance was her fault.

What makes you think these ‘moderates and independents’ don’t already see this charade for what it is? It’s crystal clear to everyone else."Bogus excuse, Sa-teef. And by the way, Christine Balsey Ford is no lady."

Charles Grassley has been shepherding the nomination through the DemonRat mine fields reasonably well, allowing the screamers to punctuate the open hearings and alienating the public to the DemonRat antics.

It may be crystal clear to you and your circle of friends who follow the news closely, but most Americans are not according to Scott Rasmussen:

https://townhall.com/columnists/scottrasmussen/2018/09/20/allegations-against-brett-kavanaugh-fail-to-move-public-opinion-n2520666

"...Perhaps the biggest surprise in the data is that just 27 percent are following this story "Very Closely." That's the same modest level of interest there was before the allegations were made. It may be that most voters are just tuning out the entire dispute as little more than political gamesmanship from official Washington...."

According to the article by Scott Rasmussen, approval for Kavanaugh has moved only 3 percent from 52 to 49 percent, within the margin of error.

You may be right that everyone has made up their minds before the hearings. But there are a whole lot of (left leaning) polls out there in the last day or two saying the tide has turned decidedly against his nomination. While I doubt their veracity the news blasted out to independents who actually listen to the MSM may sway them in the midterms. That's just my opinion. You have every right to decide for yourself, but these experienced Washington Pols are in charge and they wouldn't do it if they thought it was a waste of their time. IMO.
