Washington (CNN)Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley agreed late Friday night to allow the woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault more time to decide whether to testify before Congress.

Apparently (per the article) the new deadline is 2:30 PM Saturday. God only knows if Grassley and the committee actually mean it this time.

Yeah lets see what happens at 2:20PM, will Chuck grant another extension and another and another?

Lord if she can't fly every accommodation has been offered so put up or shut up. She can get in the car right now for a all night road trip and make it by Monday easily.

Grassley is laughingstock, as is the entire Republican Party.

It's on another thread, and unfortunately, hilarious as it is, it's been debunked.

That's a drunk chick from some running club for people who are into running and then getting drunk or something like that...

Then let Mitch take it to the Senate anyway

Too late.

Mitch does not have the votes anymore. Flake and Collins have given Donnelly, Manchin, and Tester the cover they needed. McCaskill was never a possibility.

My prediction (for what it’s worth): She will say no, Kavanaugh will testify on Monday, the Committee will move him out of Committee, but before the Senate votes she will have a change of heart (AFTER Kavanaugh testifies, of course) and the handwringers on both sides of the aisle will say ‘she wants to speak, let her speak’. She will only speak AFTER Kavanaugh testifies, so she will know what to counter. This whole mess stinks to high heaven, but it’s the Democrats, so is anyone surprised?

Agree totally. And if the Democrats have another ringer lined up with another me-too tale, they'll trot her out just before the full vote.

The Republicans fell for the bait from day one when they didn't forcefully laugh off this ridiculous tale from 35 years ago.

How about she can’t fly so has to drive...

If she agreed today to testify on Wednesday, then she has ample time to get there. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ford and her lawyer make an agreement for Wednesday just to buy these next few days. At that point, she would only need a reason not to show up on Wednesday even if she is in D.C. I wouldn't put it past either one of them to have Ford show up Thursday in a fake cast.

It was Chris Hahn who last night said her story will be told before the vote, whether it’s at the Senate Hearing or on 60 Minutes, because the American People want to hear from her. I think this doofus prematurely let the cat out of the bag. I hope Charles Grassley heard about it, rather than being stunned Sunday night.

I would not blame Kavanaugh either if he withdrew.
The GOP weak sisters are willing to bend over backwards
for Ford, yet are unwilling to defend Kavanaugh and have
left him hanging in the wind.
The GOP House and Senate would be wiped out if Kavanaugh
withdrew.

My take on this is different than what most here might think.

I believe McConnell, Grassley and even Trump himself want this to be strung out all the way to Election Day.

With each passing day -- even HOUR -- several things are happening:

1. Christine Buzzy Ford and her legal team look less credible. Heck -- her credibility was probably damaged irreparably as soon as she began negotiating through lawyers. Notice that Kavanaugh's statements, in comparison, have all been attributed to HIMSELF.

2. The Democrats on the committee who keep demanding "more time" look increasingly foolish. Feinstein in particular faces a scenario where her odds of losing her own re-election bid to that Mexican communist are growing by the day.

3. The mainstream media recognizes this and desperately wants the story to go away. Notice how little coverage this gets anymore outside national media outlets. My own regional news site that is pathologically anti-Trump hasn't had it on its news page in 4-5 days.

4. [PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE] The GOP prevents what would likely be the most damaging scenario (politically) for them: they vote to confirm Kavanaugh without any input from Buzzy Ford, and then she immediately "testifies" via national media coverage like a segment on "60 Minutes" or the "Today" show.

“He wouldn’t be doing this if the GOP had the votes. They don’t have the damned votes yet!!”

Finally! A statement that makes sense.

That would be great, but two of them - Flake and Corker - are on their way out. Grassley’s having to herd cats here.

Meh, he can give another 24hrs worth of extensions. It’ll continue to make her look like she doesn’t want to show and at the same time not really make any difference. BTW, this is all because a never Trumper sits on the committee

I’m inclined to agree.
GOP fecklessness aside, Ford is exhibiting a level of derangement that’s obvious to anyone with half a brain who’s paying the scantest bit of attention.
Not that said looniness will deter the seditious left from sticking like epoxy to their ginned up narrative.

It’s all a shamefully sickening farce.
And what a nightmare it must be for BK and his family !

The tale is not ridiculous, what's ridiculous is grown men turning typical teenaged bullsh*t into some sort of a crime.

They keep saying, "the allegations are serious" when no, they are not serious.

As long as they act in public like a 17 year old boy trying (and failing) to get a girl's top off is "sexual assault" while drowning a girl in a pond if you're a Senator is nothing, we will never get well.
