He’s gonna count votes. If Collins and Murkowski have joined Flake in calling for an investigation, he doesn’t have a choice. Manchin isn’t enough and Heitcamp isn’t going to be the 50th vote to send him to the court. He has no choice if he only has 49 votes or else...that’s reality. A better strategy is to call the RINOs and the two Dems.

Exactly. This is the reality of the issue. What do freepers want McConnel to do? Say “no!” And then get 48 votes to confirm and then the nominee gets shot down because he won’t do it? Because as of right now that may be the reality and Mitch is going to either call for an investigation or not based on the votes, not based on calls to his office.
McConnell can’t do anything if he doesn’t have the votes to go forward.
He doesn’t have the votes, because ones like, Flake, Murkowski, Collins, etc, are not going to vote for Kavanaugh without an FBI investigation.
Therefore, IF the FBI investigates this, there’s going to be an avalanche of new allegations against Judge Kavanaugh by the radical left lawyers, which will keep it going indefinitely.
Just like the Democrats wanted.

Do the leaders of the Senate not have the slightest ability to explain to a guy like flake how screwing this up is going to affect his future? I know he’s not coming back to the Senate, but it’s almost certain that he wants to remain in some kind of politics, business, or lobbying. If I knew that an FBI investigation would have the impact of completing vindicating Kavanaugh and exposing this attempted coup, I’d be all for it.
But I know that’s not how things work.
All gets down to the stardust twins Collins and Murkowski. What that idiot Flake did was to give the twins a reason to vote no until FBI investigation by putting the investigation on the table making it harder for McConnell to corral their votes, The Dems of course will start flacking more “victims”
of the evil Kavanaugh and more delay.
