That’s one thing for sure about President Trump. He has a way with words that gets the whole world buzzing about it!

;-D

A much larger manufacturing base won’t be built in a day. The Trump Administration is involved in many different difficult tasks that are quite necessary for our survival.

...”I wish people here understood the Oriental mind like Trump obviously does. It’d make everything so much easier. The biggest event in foreign affairs since Trump took office was Trump’s granddaughter singing to President Xi in Mandarin Chinese. You have no idea how huge that was and the effect it had in China.”...

YES!

Kim Jong-un is a villain who has murdered many people in his own country and rules over a living hell where people are shot for trying to escape.

Trump should deal with Kim to prevent North Korea from getting nuclear weapons, but no U.S. president should say he is “in love” with the evil bastard.

Never in my life, and I am no longer young, have we brought home remains of the Korean War dead or deescalated tensions with NK. In fact, I remember the DEFCON rating when a few of our guys were hacked to death in the DMZ over there.

If we can end the Korean conflict peacefully, it will be an act of God.

While I was visiting Seoul, ordinary folk in NK were eating grass. Rumor on Dragon Hill was that they also ate their girl babies.

I wish everyone could see the pillars at the history museum in Seoul, which used to be a defense building. All those dead listed from top to bottom of those pillars outside of that building, US men on one side and S Koreans on the other-in little bitty typeface on bronze plaques. Took my breath away, as I'd practically forgotten.

"I was really being tough and so was he. And we were going back and forth, and then we fell in love. Okay? No really. He wrote me beautiful letters," Trump said. "They're great letters. We fell in love."

You know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, this kind of 'Trumpian description' drives the left totally insane {just another bonus}.

He did say that.. and I think he says these kind of things to give the media fits.. if he didn’t enjoy giving them something new and different every day, he’d not do it.

Seeing him say this.. with a smile pointed at the media..
They didn’t let him down.

In your article,

1. The shipping containers pie chart shows Hong Kong in black receiving 15% of them from China. But much may be intermediate goods which are then sent on... to the US. Also true for many of the other non-US nations on the chart. Have you accounted for that? What about reports of pollution in rural regions so bad, it's led to village wide riots? Child laborers; and worker abuse during Olympics construction? "Lots of construction" - but with inferior steel and other inputs? All just "exaggeration"?

2. 'Police State' includes Internet censorship, why no mention on that as an issue? Political prisoners? The illegal harvesting of organs? Repression of religious groups? Their use of brutal one-child policies?

3. Theft of intellectual property (IPRs) has basically allowed China to advance economically by cheating. It costs over $1 billion to develop one new drug and bring it to the medical market in the US, for example. Multiply this investment R&D burden many fold for other sectors, especially Defense. I was stunned to see this major rights violation, the right to patent and copyright, overlooked with the breezy conclusion, "the US isn't really a republic, China isn't really socialist, they're pretty much the same." Wow.

No mention of these issues, others. I have close relatives in my family who have lived and worked over in China, I know they are making economic progress, but let's not get carried away. I have read the average Chinese citizen has little accumulated savings to date, so one major macro shock could destabilize their economy. Kind of reads like a tourism pamphlet to me, as you have it now.

“granddaughter singing to President Xi in Mandarin Chinese. ”
First I’ve heard of that. Just goes to show how selective and negative the press is. Never heard it on FR until now.

Hey thanks for reading my post.

Ok. on point.

[1] It's difficult to track intermediate good transport. I'd have to really tear into the DB. I don't know. I am sure that the information would be very interesting.Currently I own and run an number of import and export companies in China. I am pretty much an EXPERT on this subject. But heck, if you want to know what the Washington Post thinks, well then be my guest. No skin off my back.

[1a] Reports of pollution in rural areas. Iv'e been to rural areas, and I haven't seen any pollution. I really mean this. This is not a "casual statement". What reports are you referring to? I'd like to see them and check them out. Thank you. To me, it sounds like absolute bull sh##t.

[1b] Child labor. I've been in China full time for 15 years and I work with factories almost exclusively. I have never...NEVER seen any child labor. The closest that I have seen was a factory boss who gave a job to his 16 year old niece who had a child and needed to provide for her. So he gave her a office job filing papers and greeting people in the main lobby. Chile labor is a big money making enterprise by some MBA-types who found out that they can certify against child labor in China by paying THEM big bucks. Hey, you want me to certify a factory does not use child labor, send me a private email, and I can send you my fee schedule.

[1c] Village riots? WTF are you talking about? Seriously? You've been watching too much Hollywood and TV. CNN is not reality. It's actually kind of funny that you believe this. It's along the line of the giant killer hornets that plague China, or the sex-doll explosion that is going to bring Britain to it's knees.

[1d] Inferior steel. OK. Sure... What ever you say. Are you a metallurgist? I am in the industry. I can positively tell you that the rumors are greatly exaggerated. In fact, if I can blow my own horn, I used to work in the steel industry in Pittsburgh, so I know more than just a little bit about this subject. So you can believe MSN and Salon, if you wish. It's all friggin' nonsense!

[2] Police State. This is something that I can not explain to you. You need to come here and experience it first hand. I can tell you that the USA is the police state, but you will scoff and laugh. Come here and have a taste of what freedom actually is. HERE is my post on this subject.

[3] Theft of property. Ha. Actually that is also something that I know a lot about. I have over 11 patents, don't you know. You know the person who owns the company owns the patents. So when a Chinese company buys the American company, they own the patents. It's pretty straight forward. If you don't like it, then change the laws.

I am sorry that my post reads like a tourism brochure. You should get the friggin' heck out of your echo bubble and see things for yourself. Reliance on CNN and FOX for news is really living a modern day George Orwell novel. Spend the money. It's not expensive. That is all that I am saying.

Of course, you do not have to believe me. Go on and live your life and consider my pearly words of wisdom as nonsense. That's fine too.

I don’t mind a real trade war with China. They are the enemy. We should not be trading with them anyway.

We are not “trading” with China.

We have sold out our own country, to China.

For real. Our trade deficit with China is HUGE. The biggest bilateral trade imbalance ever.

Anywhere.

Between any two countries. EVER. The absolute worst. Ever. Anywhere. The worst.

And it is getting even worse this year.

Every single month.

Brings back memories of Art Linklater

Kids Say the Darnedest Things.....

Art "What's your favorite animal?"
Kid "The octopus"
Art "why an octopus?"
Kid "Because they have such big testicles"
Art "You mean tentacles"
Audience ..... roaring laughter

That may be because you are NOT an end user. As a jeep enthusiast we consistently experience low quality manufacture from china. We avoid it like the plague. Metal is soft and out of specs.

Add to all that, this.

The trade deal as it was set up demands any US company doing business in China must provide China with a full tech transfer.

China has no real tech development on their own. It’s all stolen from us or given to them by us.

How many of our defense industry companies are doing business in China? How quickly has Chinese defense tech improved?

How much of our military electronics come from China? How much of our military electronics are compromised?

Trump knows the media far better than they know themselves. It's striking how they grab the bait even when he tells them they will do just that immediately following his sound bite! LOLOL....They're like kids waiting for candy.
