I'm told #NAFTA deal was reached around 9:30pm tonight. Canada giving a larger % of its dairy market to US products in exchange for cultural protection & some form of dispute resolution process (formerly Ch 19).

These days that’s pretty much a standard technique for French frying potatoes. I get your point though - get them crispy enough so they stand up to the gravy. I wish just thinking that a lot of crust on fried foods are ruined by putting something wet on them. I have no experience with making French fries wet other than with ketchup.

The term..Cultural protection, as it relates to this trade deal actually means Telecomm, Banking and Media. The dairy part is big and the “Side Letters” relates mostly to Auto and Auto Parts...which is MUCH bigger. Canada will have to start manufacturing the products they sell to the US instead of buying from China to resell to us. Same with Mexico.
This was one of the headlines in Bloomburg - “U.S. business, lawmakers urged U.S. to keep Canada in pact”

President Trump used Jared Kushner as his “Good Cop” to Head Negotiator Lighthiser’s “Bad Cop”. It had nothing to do with any other business or politician.

It explains all about how the US can change the deal on the fly if certain quotas are not met by Canada.
Canada no longer manufactures anything. Their environmentalists and politicians have driven plants out of the country. They buy all their parts from China, put them together and sell the finished product to the US. Mexico has been doing the same thing. So if you buy an alternator for your car and it says “made in Canada” it is really made in China.
That’s why Ford was moving plants to Mexico. Not as much for the cheaper labor, but for the much. much cheaper parts. China was getting around trade limits that way for years. That’s all over with now. Now you know why President Trump came down hard on Ford and threatened a 30% tariff on Ford products coming from Mexico.
Make no mistake...this is a HUGE win for the US.
In OK and TX, a dairy chain by the name of Braum’s produces their milk without the hormones. It runs the same as mass market milk.
I believe softwood lumber and steel are separate.
This explains a lot about auto and atou parts for the US.
