Destroying Brett Kavanaugh: This is what Democrats do when they think Roe v. Wade is at stake.
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 1, 2018 | William McGurn

Posted on 10/02/2018 5:01:40 AM PDT by reaganaut1

As malignant as were the campaigns against Supreme Court nominees Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas, even they didn’t face accusations as vile and unrelenting as the unsubstantiated charges against Brett Kavanaugh. Adding to the injustice is that the frenzy surrounding his nomination isn’t really about him.

It’s about Roe v. Wade. The 1973 Supreme Court decision upended the laws of all 50 states on behalf of a constitutional right to abortion the Constitution somehow neglects to mention. Since then, the advocates of a living Constitution posit that while our Founding document is infinitely malleable, this one ruling is fixed and sacred.

Judge Kavanaugh’s great misfortune is to have been nominated at a moment when the party in opposition frets this fixed and sacred ruling could be overturned.

Never mind that Chief Justice John Roberts is unlikely to acquiesce to a move that would bring down the furies on his court. Or that it’s not clear Judge Kavanaugh would be any different, having assured senators that he regards Roe as “settled” and “an important precedent” whose central holding had been reaffirmed in Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992). Or that overturning Roe still wouldn’t make abortion illegal.

The problem is that even Roe’s most ardent champions know it is devoid of legal and constitutional substance. So they know it is vulnerable to a closer look by any serious jurist, including those who are themselves pro-choice. No wonder Sen. Dianne Feinstein tweeted, “It’s not enough for Brett Kavanaugh to say that Roe v. Wade is ‘settled law.’ ”

Let me translate: Nothing personal, judge. But if you won’t declare that a decision laid down by seven unelected men in robes is untouchable, we have no choice but to do whatever it takes to keep you off the high court.

I guess for the left, they are viewing the destruction of Brett Kavanaugh simply as a late term abortion. On the verge of his birth as a SCOTUS Associate Justice, the left’s performance was analogous to thrusting scissors into the base of his skull, sucking out his brain filled with a lifetime of achievement, slowly dismembering him limb from limb over the course of 10 days, and attempting to flush him down the sink. Remember, this kind of abortion is a right to be exercised for any reason, or no reason at all. In this case, his ‘birth’ was an inconvenience and the ‘mad girlfriend’ treatment to get to the baby-daddy of the entire episode, President Trump.

I humbly disagree.

As much as they have a white-hot seething hatred for Trump, Abortion is a religion to these people.

Personally, I don’t care if people want to kill their unborn babies, probably would have been wards of the state anyway. I do care that my tax dollars shouldn’t pay for it. Defund Planned Parenthood and let the libs donate their money to do the killing for them. PROBLEM SOLVED.

“protecting Democrats right to abort themselves. When liberals are no longer around,...”

They have been aborting themselves for nearly half a century. So why are they still here?

Are they becoming reliant on impoverished immigrants to replace their ranks?

If Roe were overturned, the liberal strongholds would become ‘the abortion states’.

Soros would establish an ‘abortion tourism’ business where his funding would fly liberal women stuck in red states to fly to NYC or Chicago or LA to end their pregnancies. There will be little impact or difference in the final numbers.

I always appreciate your posts ClearCase, and largely agree with you, but I think that even abortion is only a calculated position of the Left.

Their only concern is control of government, getting it and keeping it. The SC is, today, far more powerful than it should be, and the Left wants absolute control over it.

The list you provided just shows that they will spastically (and childishly) jump from one “issue” to another based on whatever is expedient, solely for political gain. The Right makes the mistake of believing that anything the Left says is ever what they mean.

As much as I cherish human life and find abortion an abomination which is completely immoral, against God, and destructive to humankind, I believe the Right should avoid being sucked into a fight over Roe v Wade in this. It has NOTHING to do with Kavanaugh. Only the Left says so, because it is politically useful to them.

Kavanaugh may far more likely mean an end to so-called “Obamacare” (I loathe that word), Federal take-over of healthcare in this country. This and other expansions by the Left are really what is most immediately at stake, and what the Left is scared-stiff about.

Full control of the Court by the Right should eventually mean reversal of all Government perversions by the Left, including abortion.

But we have to get there, first.

thank you all. lively discussion and all valid concerns.

I go back to the minute the networks declared Donald J Trump the winner.

I immediately turned to my wife and told her he will be hounded every second of every minute of every day he is President.

She gave me a “puh”. She has since apologized.

The lawsuits and recounts started before anyone could breathe.

And that leads all my perspective about what the dems are doing.

Look at the crap nadler is talking about, impeaching Kavanaugh, as if the RATs have already flipped the mid terms.
Pick a RAT, any RAT and see who they are after for any reason. It aint Kavanaugh.
Can’t wait til Pres. Trump nominates Amy Barrett.

Been offering that angle for decades.

Planned Parenthood is the mechanism that spreads all of their guilt out evenly so none of them can be held truely accountable for our actions down here while the party is still cooking. 'Cept for those extraordinarily proud of killing their own offspring and then purchasing a t-shirt to celebrate the occasion.

The leading cause of death among black children today is being murdered by a doctor while still inside their mother.

I don’t think any of us believed that The Swamp would go down without a fight. Too many people have built very, very lucrative livelihoods on the backs of taxpayers. They aren’t parting from that without excessive force being required.

Jesse Jackson used to make that point in speeches.

Before the DNC got hold of him and got his mind right.

When a white man gets in the way of women killing their own children, there will be hell to pay!

Doesn’t anyone see any contradiction in this?

I don’t believe roe v wade has anything to do with it.

I agree.

Roe v Wade is the cover story and the rallying cry to gain support from those who might not bother if they knew the truth.

Yes it is about Trump. But IMHO it is deeper than that.

It's about power and democrats belief that only they should control America and Americans.

And at this time it is worse than usual because democrats see their hegemony and power slipping away as exemplified by the Trump defeat of their sainted Hillary.

In 2010 they were om top of the world with a democrat president, control of the House and Senate and a slightly left leaning Supreme Court.

They were able to steam-roller the entire nation with whatever globalist/socialist scam and cuckoo idea they had.

Remember Pelosi's circus parade at the passing of Obamacare?
Remember Obama's $800 billion "Stimulus" slush fund?
Remember their "Cash for Clunkers" and shutting down car dealerships.
Remember the Obama Airlift of $1.4 billion in cash to his fellow muslims in Iran?

Now it has all been lost and even their vaunted 2018 Blue Wave seems to be turning into a dribble.

So in a way, this is the hill they chose to die on.

And in their fanatical push to prevail they have stepped outside the bounds of cnivil behavior ad shown their true\ly evil character to the world.

Let's hope this really is the hill the globalist/socialist/democrat movement really does die on.

The Democrats use “Roe v. Wade” as a wedge to divide men and women.

There are more women voters than there are men.

Only women get abortions [I know, I know, in 2018 some “men” get abortions but you know what I mean].

The Democrats have staked their existence on getting the “women’s vote” and they’ll do anything to keep that vote.

That’s what all the anti-Kavanaugh theatrics are about.

We all know that “repeal” of Roe v. Wade would likely have no effect on the availability of abortion in the U.S. but it would remove a huge wedge issue that the Democrats rely upon for votes.

"They" routinely forgot to remove all of my "excessive force" when I was discharged. I have it stored in 6 Mason jars atop my mantle for emergencies such as these.

I think it’s more than roe v wade or Donald Trump. It’s about democrats’ fear of having too many SC justices who actually follow the constitution and rule of law. Democrats’ goal is to have enough liberal judges who aren’t afraid to twist the interpretation and change a law that they don’t like.
