Hmmm - saving uneaten food. Flies will have a feast!

FACT:
The 2006 movie “Idiocracy” was filmed in and around Austin, Texas.
Maybe left-over food can be processed into “Brawndo” (It’s Got Electrolytes).

Six months from now: Austin rescinds the “dont throw away” food regulation due to massive influx of flies and the horrible stink.

Just ship to the “City” offices who came up with this BS. Consider it donated food.

Fascism.

It’s not that it’s not a good idea. It’s just none of the government’s business.

Plants crave it.

Not really. Even though it has electrolytes.

This is stupid on its face. Any food not sold at a restaurant is either expired (as dictated by Austin city health standards) or contaminated in some way. No business wastes edible food that can be sold (and many businesses will still try to sell bad food).

It’s one thing to have a composting law - it’s another and immoral to demand that you divert your meat and bread that the health department has declared as inedible to the homeless shelters as if it’s now suddenly fit for human consumption.

This is stupid, insidious, evil and more mindless millennialist tripe to make them feel good about themselves while not solving the problem of food supply or homelessness.

Memo to Austin restaurants: Get in touch with City Harvest in NYC and get information from them on how to do it in your city. You are totally indemnified against any problems that might arise with the food you donate. There might be some benefits to restaurant owners as well, not sure about that. It’s tremendous goodwill, so get a PR rep.

(Not to mention the fact that it benefits the poor.)

It’s a well known fact that cows raised in the most pleasant and cruelty free manner go on to make the most delicious dinners.

How about the increase in rodent rats?
(Austin is already infested with the human kind i.e. DemocRATS)

That’s what dogs are for........

I recall that in the 50s butchers would give bones and meat scraps to customers to feed their dogs. Produce thrown out would go to hog farmers, terrific food for the sows.

Why must there always be ordinances? Publicity campaigns for food donors and local charities would do the job better and create no ill will.

Are the soup kitchens going to be happy to receive someone’s 3/4 eaten cheeseburger as a donation?

Sounds like Blue Bell Ice Cream’s tagline.

Happy cows make the best ice cream. :-)
