SENATOR LISA MURKOWSKI: I did not come to a decision on this until walking onto the floor this morning. I have been wrestling to really try to know what is fair and what is right, and the truth is, that none of this has been fair.
This hasn’t been fair to the judge, but I also recognize that we need to have institutions that are viewed as fair and if people who are victims, people who feel that there is no fairness in our system of government, particularly in our courts, then you’ve gone down a path that is not good and right for this country. And so I have been wrestling with whether or not this was about qualifications of a good man or is this bigger than the nomination.
And I believe we’re dealing with issues right now that are bigger than the nominee and how we ensure fairness and how our legislative and judicial branch can continue to be respected. This is what I have been wrestling with, and so I made the — took the very difficult vote that I did.
I believe Brett Kavanaugh’s a good man. It just may be that in my view he’s not the right man for the court at this time. So I have taken my vote here this morning, I’m going to go back to my office and write a floor statement that is more fulsome and have the opportunity to have that.
But this has truly been the most difficult evaluation of a decision that I have ever had to make, and I’ve made some interesting ones in my career.

Was in my truck a few minutes ago. He made the observation that if Kavanaugh is voted down it leaves a 4 v 4 split in the Supreme Court. Thereby, in the event of any ties the last lower court ruling will prevail. This, as an example, could leave the 9th Circuit Court making the final ruling on issues such as gun rights, oil and drilling issues, environmental issues, etc. all things that could have a huge impact on Alaskans. Rush seemed to surmise that Murkowski may not have made her final decision afterall once the obvious has been pointed out to her. Stat tuned....
Feelings over facts should not be instituted in our government.
I just sent an email to Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau telling them that we have cancelled a cruise/tour to Alaska n June, and that we’re encourage other prospective travelers to do the same.
I said they can thank Senator Murkowski for any lost tourism dollars.
Murkowski is a person who herself puts, and is willing to lt others put personal, biased perceptions of “fairness”, when it comes to the courts, ABOVE what is legally fair by the law and the Constitution.
There was and is nothing “unfair” about looking at Ms Ford’s allegations as uncororborated, unsunstantiated allegations NO court would accept as evidence against Mr Kavanaugh. Whatever “fairness” Ms Ford deserved from the Senate was given in the granting of a hearing for her to make her unocroborated, unsubstantiated allegations.
Ms Murkowski, as my old boss use to say when he thought I was looking at the wrong part of a problem: “You’re focused on the hole, not the donut.”
What isn’t fair is torpoeding his nomination based pure hearsay. So much for doing the right thing.....

Sarah Palin defeated Murkowski’s father in the gubernatorial primary when her father was the INCUMBENT Republican Governor and went on to win the general in 2006. That is what put Palin on the map and got her selected for VP in 2008. It will never happen since Palin is leaving Alaska, but it would be SO SWEET to have her knock of Sen. Murkowski in the primary the next time around. Murkowskis HATE Palin with a passion.

President Trump has worked to open the oil fields in Alaska to drilling which would bring millions of dollars into the economy there -
It might be time for some “environmental reviews” by the EPA/DOE/DOI in Alaska. Fedzilla has a lot of power there. Let’s see if it is used.
At some level, she must understand that if she is the cause of Kavanaugh's nomination failing, that Trump will make it a project to destroy her. It may not happen this month, but she will NOT enjoy being on his list of people to screw over.
