House Republicans struggling to preserve their majority are facing a wave of Democratic money and enthusiasm in suburban districts across the country, as well-educated and moderate voters consider new checks on President Trump.
An analysis of the types of districts in play shows that two-thirds of the Republican-held seats that a top election handicapper sees as vulnerable are in suburban areas.
That has Republicans on defense in an area where Trump has bled support, even in the 2016 election he won.
The Cook Political Report lists 64 Republican-held seats as either pure toss-ups, or leaning slightly toward Democrats or Republicans.
Of those districts, 42 are classified as suburban by the researchers David Montgomery and Richard Florida at CityLab.
The suburbs are the battleground, said Courtney Alexander, a spokeswoman for the Congressional Leadership Fund, the super PAC backing House Republicans.
A lot of our advertising is focused in these districts, and weve been there in a lot of these districts for a year talking about the issues.
Voters in suburban districts tend to be both wealthier and better educated than voters in either rural districts or in urban cores.
They are less moored to one political party or the other than either rural or urban residents, making them the last bucket of undecided voters who are capable of swinging an election.

Yeah....that’s totally what I’m saying. Boy you nailed it. /s
No, he has not. But mark my words: In the midst of the Kavanaugh celebrations and the euphoria of Trump triumphs, many supporters will fail or forget to vote. That's what happens in midterm elections. Why do you think Trump is working his rear end off on these rallies across the country?>
By the way, most Freepers seem to have the same view as you.
I saw one bozo in suburban Pittsburgh who has lawn signs out for Scott Wagner, the GOP candidate for Governor, AND Conor Lamb, the Democrat running for Congress in that district. WTF????
And buried in a (Left leaning) Quinnipiac poll are some numbers that should rock Democrats back on their heals: Two weeks ago, white women were favoring Democrats on a generic congressional ballot by 13 points. One week later it was down to five points. In the latest poll, it is at one point. These are the vaunted suburban female voters that Democrats having been targeting because of their supposed discomfort with Trump. But it turns out they have sons and husbands and watching what happened to Brett Kavanaugh has not sat well.
I will make one observation of these bozos: They’re everywhere, they’re everywhere.
We do not have to get riled up ..like 2016 stay quit and vote..and bring a friend..
I have posted two articles today on the Suburban voter trends. Both were Democrat propaganda designed to advance their scheme and help the Democrat cause among Suburbia. Read the comments and make your own decision. The Freepers are dismissive and complacent in my view, a very dangerous position for us to be with 30 days left until the election.
Good luck in your neck of the woods.
Voters in suburban districts tend to be both wealthier and better educated than voters in either rural districts or in urban cores.
Oh, and better-educated young women favor Hillary, in fact, all better-educated people favor Hillary, and the Dims..
You are quite right and the trends are all in the right direction. They ought to be worried and what we should be doing is kicking them when they are down.
If it’s the suburbs that are important, then the Dems should be toast. They’ve been an albatross around the neck of the middle class. They want to raise taxes on the middle class in order to give Blue State billionaires a credit for what they pay in state taxes. They’ve handed the middle class the bill for Obamacare and the rest of their welfare programs. They’ve got nothing to brag about when it comes to the middle class. They even went so far as to call them names, “Deplorable” ring a bell?
Heres toasting polls! Theyve been so accurate! /S
Yep, and that's why Hillary is President.../s
There you go, using facts and rational arguments again. That won’t get you anywhere. The perpetually grieved voters decide on feelings.
With exceptions to the bluest of the politically blue areas of the U.S., why would the majority of voters, truly, decide to vote for Democrats, after all of the ongoing foolish behavior by The Left and ongoing crazy behavior by The Left?
The mainstream media — even its conservative precincts — seem to have no idea of the high levels of support for the president among minorities, or about the Walk Away movement.
Elitists oppose anything that might make life better for the hoi polloi. They might show up in the elitists' neighborhoods.
:^D You get me. ;^)
Actually, no. As Salena Zito found in their Great America polling, it is educated URBANITES who were pro-Cankles. Educated people NOT in major urban centers voted much like the rest of the electorate.
Peer pressure.
And every district is different. So, stop with the dramatics. We are going to hold the House and win seats in the Senate.
The GOP base if fired up and will be voting in Nov, especially as Trump keeps going to rallies.
