Nikki Haley praises Trump's family (Jared and Ivanka) as she steps down
Market Watch ^ | today | Robert Schroeder

Posted on 10/09/2018 8:32:32 AM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Speaking Tuesday, she listed what she called achievements that had improved the U.S.’s standing on the world stage, including withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and improving relations with North Korea.

She also thanked Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, calling him a “hidden genius,” who along with his wife Ivanka does “a lot of things behind the scenes that I wish more people knew about.” Both Kushner and Ivanka Trump are senior advisers to the president.

Trump did not name a replacement for Haley, but said “many people” want to take her place.

We are not a nation with an affinity toward a personal party. Peron in Argentina is an example. Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Kennedy, Reagan, all left their stamp but attempts (like Bull Moose) to have the party take on the persona of the favorite office holder all seem to pass away.

Trump will make a big change in the path of politics, but it will be a course correction, like Reagan, not a new party, IMHO.

Too bad, she was a tiger on the world stage staring down the UN despot club. I hope her replacement is as capable of putting the NWO in it’s place and keeping America great again.

I sometimes get the impression that if Jared wasn't PDJT's son-in-law, he'd be a never-Trumper.

I can understand that, because Jared is not an ideologue, he's a survivor. If he were on the outside and not connected to Trump, he would go where the power is. Its not personal, its just business. Son of a super-wealthy NY property developer, married into Trump's family - he's seen a lot. He's Trump's consigliere.

I too believe Jared in particular hasn't been given enough credit for improving trade with Mexico, dealing with the Saudis, and cementing Jerusalem 's capital status. Among other things...

You are absolutely correct! I doubt any of those things would have been accomplished without him.

My impression is that he likes to work in the background, behind the scene and doesn't crave the publicity and accolades.

Apparently, Haley is not stepping down immediately. It looks like it will be at the end of the year.

Who suggested it would be a new party?

(Though the GOP needs a near-total makeover IMO.)

Yep. They are also clearly responsible for the swamp/Establishment/Never-Trumper tilt in his initial administrative nominations—which is he still working to recover from. Without them, the swamp clearing would be far ahead, with less uncertainty to it.

(Sure, one could say their familiarity and support helped him to hang on through his particularly hellish first months, but it was their bad advice on staffing that made those first months so hellish to start with.)

Look for a health issue in her family. Maybe just parents. She has 20 more years to work. A year or so to spend time with parents or children without the press and the government on her back.

The Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell is being floated as a replacement...as is deputy NSA Dina Powell.

#20: "Ivanka is a feminist who's one step away of tweeting for #metoo; Jared just seems like a run of the mill milquetoast liberal."

Jared needs to cut back on the soy shakes Ivanka's been feeding him.

Not you. My comment was in agreement with your sense of the limited but real Third Term effect on whoever followed Trump on the Republican side.

We have others on FR that wistfully imagine that the Republicans wash away and the Trumpeteers take all the future. I see that as forgetting our history.

Our local (conservative) talk show host theorized this:

(after the election)

Nicky Haley steps down.

Lindsey Graham steps down.

Jeff Sessions is finally fired as AG.

Lindsey becomes the new AG.

Nicky is appointed to Lindsey Graham’s senate seat.

(Both Lindsey and Nicky are from South Carolina)

What do you think?

I don’t get that impression. Watch him at various events, like the USMCA presser, he’s on board with Trump.

Wouldn’t hurt for lots of individual uniparty GOPers to wash away...

Lindsey becomes the new AG.

Not sure how I feel about that.

That’s your opinion, based on what?

“a lot of things behind the scenes that I wish more people knew about.”

Trump keeps his cards close, and wants his people to do the same.

Nope - she’s just saying the Trump family has been good to her...masterful way of getting out ahead of the leaks and de-fanging the already demoralized Dems by taking away any “turmoil” claims...they had their hopes up for about an hour and had them crushed...

Lindsey has the energy that seems to be non-existent in Jeff Sessions. I have heard that throughout Sessions history he has been a “silent but deadly” type when in AG type rolls, but we have yet to see it and the clock has ran a long time.

My reservation about Lindsey is he is enthralled with his own personal vision of “the law” and its interpretation. Can he leave that aside to serve? The Wall is needed to take away variables in how illegals are handled.
