Former GOP senator urges Nikki Haley to challenge Trump in 2020

A former Republican senator from New Hampshire says Nikki Haley should visit the early-primary state as soon as possible to explore a 2020 challenge against President Trump.

“After four years of Donald Trump, America will want a president of sound mind and dignified presidential bearing," former Sen. Gordon Humphrey told the Washington Examiner.

Haley announced her resignation as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations on Tuesday. She opposed Trump in 2016, contributing to suspicion about her departure, which will take effect later this year.

Challenging Donald Trump in 2020 is just not on Nikki Haley’s radar.

First of all, it would be futile. The Trump Train is rolling with such momentum it will take a catastrophe of global proportions to derail it, or even slow it down.

And Nikki Haley is just not the kind of Never-Trumper that Gordon Humphrey imagines she might be. Team players do not do this to the alpha male.

“Qualification” as a “natural-born citizen” has never been adequately addressed in the body of US law. It may be some day, but it has always been ambiguous since the time of the Wong Kim Ark decision, the declaration of the doctrine of “native-born”.

In 1898 that led to a returning native-born son of Chinese immigrants being denied entry back into his own country because the INS viewed him as an un-naturalized alien who would need permission of the government to enter and return to his own home. He disagreed and sued the government in federal court, and won. The Supreme Court ruled against the Justice Department’s appeal, and applied the simple words of the 14th Amendment (”All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside”) and thereby declared children of legal immigrants to be U.S. Citizens. That, for the first time, stated what the nation-wide policy would be.

So they were American citizens, but what kind of citizens? That’s the question that many have failed to ask. That Chinese-American citizen, Wong Kim Ark, was not a natural American citizen, nor a citizen via the naturalization process. He was a member of a third class of citizens, which is shown on the INS website as native-born. They are the children born of foreigners and thanks to the 14th Amendment are deemed to be citizens at birth by a form of automatic naturalization.

Trump gave her an enormous career boost by putting her in the position. She performed fabulously on that stage. She owes PDJT and will pay him back by campaigning for his ticket in 2020.

The Bush league Republicans would love to get rid of Trump so they can complete the Bush Plan for North Mexico.

The bonus would be another usurpation to cement the idea that the children of foreign nationals are eligible to be President.

They inherit the nationality of their foreign national parent(s) ans are not naturally Americans.
Natural born citizen are naturally Americans because they have only one nationality and cannot be anything else.

Since Nikki Haley’s & Bill Kristol’s foreign policy views are identical, I would vote for Nikki as much as I would vote for Hillary Clinton, who shares the same views.

The media asked her if she would be running for president in 2020.

Most amusing to say the least. Niki Haley said she will be actively involved in the 2020 election and pointed to Donald Trump and said “paraphrased as I do not remember the exact quote” yes, campaigning for him and pointing a finger at President Trump.

Niki Haley has done an outstanding job and I think she just needs a rest from a most brutal job as UN Ambassador. I look much forward to her new position in the Trump administration in a few months.

It should be noted that prior to her position in the Trump Administration and even before Trump was a candidate she was was running for reelection in South Carolina as governor. She was accused of sexual improprieties by the democratic left wing pig liars. It was a massive failure by the democrats.

I look much forward to Niki Haley taking a most deserved rest to attend to her family and then return in an even higher position.

I assume extreme focus is for the one that cannot be criticized here on FR. But, natural born citizen is rather clear—No to Harris, Rubio, Cruz, Haley, etc. They do not qualify any more than any Islamic terrorist or illegal alien anchor baby. We’ve seen the results with Obama, why suffer again?

Gordon ran in the early 2000s, just as NH was changing from a very conservative state to a purple, moderate state.

Gordan was a throwback. Cold warrior, very strident. We tried to get him to appear more calm & reachable....he did not take the constructive criticism well, to say the least. I consulted for the local GOP & worked both his campaigns.

As an aside, he married a very wealthy woman....so he was raiding her stash to run for governor both times. I heard plenty of arguments between the two of them. The guy was/is a loser.
