Someone pointed out that Smart watches don’t do video. The guy that is feeding journalists all this info is fishy, and innocent until proven guilty. Just because someone wrote it doesn’t make it true.
Frankly, I don’t care very much. We’ve known the Saudis weren’t choir boys. So what? Look at everybody else in the region. They’re a strategically important ally. I’m quite prepared to look the other way while they get on with doing what needs doing to keep a lid on things.
A couple of thoughts. The present Saudi leader is the most Western leaning and the most likely to bring about a change in what is euphemistically called “radical” Islam. Damaging him as a leader may open the way for a new leader who could make the Ayatollah look like a Smurf. Also, it is doubtful he had anything to do with this event. In a way, I feel sorry for the Saudi security agents, who doubtless felt they were doing their job as they saw it. Yes, what they did is horrible, but they exist in a nineth century mentality located in a twentyfirst century world. From their perspective they were doing the ritchous and just deed. The agents who did the deed will be sacrificed to protect those above them. The only saving grace, if there is one, is changes will be quietly made and a repeat of this incident is unlikely.
So, tell me. How did the signal get from the watch to the iPhone? It was certainly out of Bluetooth range.
