I also have a Cowpens battle ancestor . He went on to be severely wounded by the saber strike of one of Tarleton’s cavalry at the battle of Guilford Courthouse . Surviving the war to accorded a heroe’s reward of a land tract in the war western wilderness , now known as Tennessee . There establishing first a family farm , then a trading post and finally allowing the incorporation of what grew to become a well known TN small city . History is an interesting thing .

My wife’s also got a land tract in easter kentucky, which as at that point still a county in Virginia, iirc.

You should write a book. What a story!

i have always felt an unsung hero of the Revolution was Amiral de Grasse. Whipping the English at the Chesapeake certainly sealed Cornwallis’ fate. We never hear his name.
