Off by a factor of 10 (one order of magnitude) - and still more-accurate than Warren's claims!
Regards,
I’ll add this — I find it interesting that so far the main response to her claim is skepticism rather than laughter. In other words, people are saying, “bet you aren’t really 3% Cherokee.” But so what if she is 3% Cherokee? Does that make her a better person than if she was 0% Cherokee? Why am I supposed to care what percentage of some misguided liberal white lady from Boston is Cherokee?
Don’t know if tribes have own rules or BIA the number i remember is 1/16 I think the Pechangas used that for benefits from the casino
You have to prove a blood relative was on the old tribal "rolls".........
IOW...documented "Native"....on the old documentation records.
Never heard..a percent rule...but there are different Natives...that look down their noses...at people..that don't "look" Native...but are.
Here in OK....the Cherokee..had a chief named "MANKILLER"...frankly I love it...the chief was a woman...And I'm a man...but still like the name.
Took care of a man in the hosp. named Whitekiller....I loved it!! ..............
My postman...years ago...was Mr. Standingbear....
Why can't I have a cool name....like that!?!?...
LOL!!
Yes...You are “Touch Indonesian”
Now run to cnn et al and brag about it
The apply for any racist Asian or bigoted MUSLIM set-asides
Reminds me of the old cereal coupons ("Good for 25 cents off your next purchase of this cereal!") which also had a "redeemable value" of one-twentieth of a cent.
Regards,
Have I taken a test? No. First, don't want to share my DNA even though I suspect it has already been documented through one of my many trips to the doctor or hospital. Second, when they are testing only a half-dozen out of thousands of markers, the results are suspect at best. And, third, the companies doing the testing are themselves claiming it is for entertainment purposes only, not accurate, not guaranteed.
.
Also, any "experiment" should be done blind. Her "friend" would have an implicit bias. At the minimum the test should be conducted blind by a laboratory that does not know where the sample came from.
An organization like 23 and Me, Ancestry.com or Oxford Ancestors will have the skill set and the databases to accurately determine ancestry. They do not even bother reporting numbers so low. It is part of the noise.
So instead of trying to figure out what percentage makes you part of a group, can everyone agree that 1/1,024 clearly doesn't meet the threshold, and is on it's face laughable?
Thanks to the discovery of the “mitochondrial Eve”, we are all related.
Feel free to check any racial box you like.
On Ancestry dot com I used to be <1% African America, now that’s suddenly been scrubbed.
Damn I was going to apply to Harvard.
I did an Ancestry.com analysis. I’m less than 1% sub Saharan African.
What up, bro?
All this has to stop. Giving special privileges to someone because of genes that were present in certain highly privileged people, now dead, is unworthy of a constitutional republic.
The fact that someone can get a job, or get into college, because of one’s ancestry is unacceptable. It is wrong.
The fact that someone is $hit upon because of ancestry is wrong.
It has to stop.
Everyone is related, if you go back far enough. We are told that humans originated in Africa, so we are all Africans.
Some tribes flush with casino money give a sum, I heard $50,000, to any member of the tribe. There is a percentage they use. I don’t know what it is, maybe 1/16 to be called a member.
Yes, I spotted that error AFTER posting. A few other grammar ones as well. Hate that I can read and re-read, then post or send an email only to find seconds later some rather obvious, sometimes very embarrassing errors. I am a bit dyslexic, dyscalculia if I understand correctly. Hey, I can claim ADA accommodation! Maybe FR should give me edit capability for my posts and comments?!
napolitano just stated that if she’s 1/32 legally that gives her the right to claim native status- I thought it was 1/16’th?
Eat at Taco Bell and then take a DNA test, Bingo...Your Mexican.
” He came up with the conclusion that she MAY BE 1/1024 Cheroke”
I stopped reading here as your stated conclusion is incorrect.
There is the rule of 65
If you are 65 or older, you do not need to sweat such errors.
