A former security director for the Senate Intelligence Committee (James Wolfe) has pleaded guilty to one count of giving a false statement to FBI agents looking into leaks of national security information to several reporters, the Justice Department announced Monday. ...Wolfe had been scheduled to appear for a routine status hearing, before prosecutors announced that "substantial" negotiations had produced a guilty plea.

he is in his 50's, and she's 26.

I believe that violates the 'acceptable age difference' formula.

If the younger of the couple is less than 1/2 your age plus 7 years, then it's icky.

Well, usually that formula is applied from the point of view of the guy is taking advantage of a younger, immature woman. I think she took advantage of him.

And, if he was 55, the formula would say 27 or 28 was OK. What’s a year between friends?

Which proves there isn’t anything classified in the fisa application.

Nah, the DOJ just doesn’t want to have to open up to the public all the nasty little illegal activities the DOJ and FBI were involved in and corresponded to the Committee on.
Specificly, when and what the Committee was told about the spying along with the internal conspiracy that Warner had with Steele himself.

So they allow a plea to claim they enforced the law, in the meantime the Russia Collusion BS continues and the swamp lives on.

“Why isn’t he being charged with leaking?”

The intelligent question that you are not supposed to ask.

This sounds like an unbelievably light plea bargain. He only pleads guilty to one count of “lying” to investigators, when the POS leaked like a sieve, and probably a great many times before the 3 reporters in question came on the scene. Anyone really believe that in 29 years in his role he only just started leaking classified info to his mistress Ali Watkins? No, I didn’t think so..... The Democrats on the Senate Intel Committee have been notorious as leakers for many years. That is why even the Brennan/Obama CIA decided to spy on their computers, fellow Democrats!!

"Which proves there isn’t anything classified in the fisa application."

There is nothing in the FISA apps which hasn't already been leaked, correct.

-------------

Warner, Burr and others on the SSCI have been using the information available to them and selectively sharing it with their fav reporters. He will never be charged with the more severe crimes because none of them want to testify under oath in a court of law. The DOJ knows better than to cross these mobsters so they gave this guy the lesser charge and will likely get a minimum sentence for agreeing privately NOT to talk about where the bodies are buried.

This matter is way bigger than some now fat & frumpy journalist who was happy to polish the old guy for a scoop. She got a transfer to the New York Office rather than any serious disciple for her activities.

“Because his attorney has threatened to subpoena every member, D & R, on the SSCI if he is charged with leaking. And the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is positively the most corrupt mob in the District of Collusion.”

Looks like you are correct. He is getting minimal punishment because the Senators on SSCI don’t want to testify in his criminal trial for leaking. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/07/28/the-curious-case-of-james-wolfe-continues/comment-page-2/

Nobody should be prosecuted for lying to the FBI until some FBI agents are prosecuted.

I originally created this to try to demonstrate to the Q-believers that the Deep State was accomplishing their goal of indicting people associated with Trump, Russians, and those who helped the Russians, and those who helped the people around Trump. And were doing so very successfully.

This is not to mean that I am a fan of Mueller, or his tactics. Nor do I feel he has proved that there is any truth to the original matter he was set out to investigate, which was surely NOT corruption in the Taxi license business in New York City.

But, none the less he has racked up an impressive record of charging people based on the loose criteria described and gaining convictions or gulity please. So far, in every case excpet the Concord Consulting trial, which is ongoing.

If one assumes that the best defense is a good offense then Trump supporters have been looking for matching indictments against the Deep State Coup plotters.

It's my opinion that there is more than ample evidence to support such indictments, based on what we've learned from the House committee investigations, several OIG reports, and Judicial Watch FOIA requested data dumps.

None the less Wolfe remains the only scalp Team Trump has to show.

Q believers found this analysis incredibly irritating, and I eventually chose self-exile from their threads to avoid then endless stream of rude invective and insults directed at me from the believers.

I would like nothing less that this chart to be totally blown out by 40 Deep State indictments (much less the 40,000 Q-believers insist are coming).

But, just keepin' it real: This is what has actually happened to date.

My take is that the Deep State is a lot more effective at this prosecution stuff than Team Trump.

Paging US Attorney Huber, please pick up the white courtesy phone, you have a call from the American people.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't read that yet but as per usual Sundance has it well researched.

I read about the defense attorney's proposed requests last summer shortly after he was charged so you just knew they would be cutting a "deal". Also read about his failed attempt at a gag order on the President on down, hehehehe.

"Anyone really believe that in 29 years in his role he only just started leaking classified info to his mistress Ali Watkins?"

In his indictment, there were references to three reporters. Ali Watkins (NY Times) is believed to be one. Speculation is that NBC and CNN were also involved.

Wolfe's indictment was preceded by a long period of surveillance, under a Grand Jury Warrant from the US Attorney for DC, Jessie Liu. Apparently, years worth of reporters electronic records were seized by the prosecutors - an unusual step.

Wolfe was apparently called in and read the riot act in December of 2017, and resigned. He was not publicly indicted until six months later, while presumably investigation continued.

Investigators/Prosecutors could have a lot ready to drop by now, given the lead times. The next few weeks would be a good time, given the election and all.

And, if he was 55, the formula would say 27 or 28 was OK

You forgot to add 7.
