The climate alarmists just cant catch a break. NASA is reporting that the sun is entering one of the deepest Solar Minima of the Space Age; and Earths atmosphere is responding in kind.
So, start pumping out that CO2, everyone. Were going to need all the greenhouse gases we can get.
We see a cooling trend, said Martin Mlynczak of NASAs Langley Research Center. High above Earths surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy. If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.
The new data is coming from NASAs Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry or SABER instrument, which is onboard the space agencys Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) satellite. SABER monitors infrared radiation from carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitric oxide (NO), two substances that play a vital role in the energy output of our thermosphere, the very top level of our atmosphere.
The thermosphere always cools off during Solar Minimum. Its one of the most important ways the solar cycle affects our planet, said Mlynczak, who is the associate principal investigator for SABER.

Right now, (TCI) is very low indeed, said Mlynczak. SABER is currently measuring 33 billion Watts of infrared power from NO. Thats ten times smaller than we see during more active phases of the solar cycle."
SABER has been in orbit for only 17 years, but Mlynczak and the scientists at NASAs Langley Research Center have been able to recreate TCI measurements back to the 1940s. SABER taught us how to do this by revealing how TCI depends on other variables such as geomagnetic activity and the suns UV output things that have been measured for decades, said Mlynczak.
In fact, TCI numbers now, in the closing months of 2018, are very close to setting record lows since measurements began. Were not quite there yet, Mlynczak reports. but it could happen in a matter of months.
The new NASA findings are in line with studies released by UC-San Diego and Northumbria University in Great Britain last year, both of which predict a Grand Solar Minimum in coming decades due to low sunspot activity. Both studies predicted sun activity similar to the Maunder Minimum of the mid-17th to early 18th centuries, which coincided to a time known as the Little Ice Age, during which temperatures were much lower than those of today...
btt
Wait, what? Does this mean that the sun affects our climate more than SUVs do? I would not have guessed that.
Thats just crazy talk!
The daily high yesterday was 47 in Fayetville, Ark. This is a whopping 12 degrees cooler than the old record low high temp for the day.
One point does not make a trend but.....
Leslie Stahl needs to go to Greenland and watch the snow pile up.

It is interesting that she would mention Greenland. While ice falling from glaciers happens every day, it is normal it does not mean that the ice on Greenland is being reduced, in fact Greenland is accumulating ice at a record rate. Just the opposite of what news reporters say is happening. The Greenland ice sheet is getting thicker each year and so much so that the increase is being measured from space.
I’ll post an article later today exposing the latest IPCC data as a fraud.
Meanwhile, Svensmark for the Nobel Prize!!!!
Low sun activity?
It really needs to get out more. Could be dehydration.
First I've seen that term used - very apt!
More winning.
Haha you’re close to the truth there Mark!!!
That seems like a long Road brother :)
Actually, its only about 30 miles from here. I am always going there, so I am always on that road. 😁
We went from Mid 70s to mid 40s. Here in the desert.
Eventually, when cold records are broken year after year and it's painfully obvious to even the lowest life forms on earth, yes, even to liberals, that the earth is slipping into a deep freeze, the alarmists will say, "Aha! Just like we told you all along! Climate change due to CO2 buildup in the atmosphere that blocks the sun's rays, is going to kill us all."
But some things won't change ---
Those lovable, photogenic polar bears will still be doomed by our insatiable gluttony for fossil fuels, but the reason they state will no longer be melting ice floes, but instead be that bear food is scarce due to the cold.
And the coastlines and islands will still be in danger from Climate Change, only it will be because the lowering seas make their ports useless, so ships can't bring in food or tourists to support the population.
And they'll get by with this spectacular flipflop, due to the sickophantic MSM covering their butts.
If long term temperatures stabilize, neither too hot nor cold, then the alarmists will take credit for it, due to the 100s of Paris Treaty & Kyoto Treaty countries heeding their call and taking action ("Taking action" = signing treaties & manifestos, engaging in blovious pontifications, and badmouthing America).
And credit for saving the earth will also be given to famous American failed politicians & Hollyweirdos who raised awareness of the impending disaster barely in the nick of time, causing millions to change their lifestyles by buying Prius's and installing solar panels, thus using less fossil fuel.
