President Donald Trump will rally supporters in Houston, Texas, next Monday, according to a statement from his campaign. The event is scheduled to be held at NRG Arena, a location that can seat 8,000 people.

“The President looks forward to celebrating the booming Trump economy that’s delivering new jobs and bigger paychecks to the hardworking men and women across the Lone Star State,” the Chief Operating Officer for the Trump campaign said in a statement to reporters.

Trump promised to campaign in Texas to help Sen. Ted Cruz’s re-election campaign after the well-funded Beto O’Rourke sparked hopes from Democrats looking to flip the Senate to a Democratic majority.

The president first announced his decision to do a “major rally” for Cruz in August.

“I will be doing a major rally for Senator Ted Cruz in October,” he said. “I’m picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find. As you know, Ted has my complete and total endorsement.”

Houston? not the most Republican town in Texas

No, but a lot of Republicans live near or work in Houston. All of the big cities throughout the country are 'rat infested.

Mr Trump:

A stadium of 8,000 IS NOT the biggest stadium in Texas!!!

Please find something larger.

Perhaps NRG is the biggest arena available that fit all the participants’ schedules.

Note that President Trump didn’t say, “I picking the biggest stadium in Texas,” he said, “I’m picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find.”

Looks like NRG was it.

You think he could fill that big hole in Dallas where the Cowboys play?

Just wondering out loud.

Agreed!

I was so very disappointed when his commission on Voter Fraud was shut down and transferred over to Homeland Security.

I imagine the big arena’s have their schedule planned out a year in advance.

The GOP controls Texas, it will have a handle on voter fraud.

I think they were counting on Trump voters not voting for Cruz, that isn’t going to happen.

The president’s security is also a factor. The larger the crowd, the tougher it is.

In Kentucky, There were 93,000 requests for tickets the other day to see the president.

In regards to the Cruz rally: an arena that holds only 8,000? In Texas?!?!

They’re gonna need a football stadium.

They’re gonna need a football stadium.

There is both a football (Titans) and baseball (Astros)
stadiums in the same complex.

After that stunt Cruz pulled at the RNC, Trump is indeed the bigger man.

To Cruz’s credit, he has performed appropriately since the election.

Smart move by the Trump folks to head into Houston, Texas. They should follow that rally up with “massive” airport FBO stop rallies in San Antonio & the DFW area in the closing days of the campaign!!! m I have great faith in Trump, Cruz & Abbott!!!

Ted’s made his mistakes. But politics is in part about patching over that which can be patched over for forging needed alliances.

There is a misprint somewhere. I’m not sure what the capacity of that stadium is, but I’v been there. It’s a LOT more than 8000.

I am very concerned about it. They are desperate now, and they don’t really care if they are caught, since nothing is done about it anyway.

I am concerned.

I have been told they don’t want huge venues, because they can’t secure them well enough to be safe.

I have often thought, why not football stadiums and such, but that is why they go for the smaller venues, even if people cannot get in.
