Yes there is, unlike TN, WV had up until 2000, ONLY gone red for the RE-election of Reagan in 84, Nixon in 72 and Eisenhower in 56! It hadn’t voted for a first time Republican since 1928!

It was about as reliable BLUE as you could get until 2000... when it flipped and hasn’t gone back.

Had WV followed its historical norms of nearly 80 years, rather than vote for Bush in 2000, you have an Al Gore Presidency. The failure to realize the flipping of WV is what Cost the Dems... and it was the precursor of what was going to happen in 2016.... As the Dems walked away from the traditional working class white voters... The writing was on the wall in 2000... and they didn’t bother to notice.

Yep, I’m from WV. Everything changed here when Gore ran for president. Before that we were the bluest of blue states. We’ve been red since 2000. The Republican party s strong in WV now.

The problem in the Senate race is Morrissey is such an awful candidate. If you saw any of the commercials either for or against him you would understand. I have absolutely no clue how this race is going to go. President Trump’s popularity in WV should be enough to help Morrissey pull out a win. But Manchin always runs as a conservative, so he might eek out a win. I’d love to see Trump make another campaign stop here to help Morrissey.
