For the first time in US Army Forces Command, or FORSCOM, history, a woman will be leading the largest command in the Army, representing 776,000 soldiers and 96,000 civilians.

Laura was a fine officer when I served with her in the 101st, I have not heard anything to change my opinion. I was kind of surprised they did not make her the 1st woman Division Commander.
Good luck to her.
I’m glad to hear she’s good. I will be relieved when (if?) we finally start hearing “best person” instead of all the “first woman” or “first woman of color” nonsense.
Four stars and FORSCOM are a pretty decent consolation prize.
Glad in her job she’d never had to carry a wounded soldier out of harms way. She would not qualify for that.
Which is not good in principal, and leads the way for another unbiblical goal of diversity, that of the first transgender general.
Glad in her job shed never had to carry a wounded soldier out of harms way. She would not qualify for that.
Yeh, theres no question that women a quite willing and able to pull the trigger. History has plenty of proof concerning that. The concern about women in the combat arms is their body strength, lack of. The other is; theyre women, in an environment made up primarily of under 25 yr old males, healthy, chock full of testosterone and piss and vinegar. Thus, the opportunity for male/female morale and relationship issues is off the charts.
Im sick of the glass ceiling bs
Women need to stick to things they are good at. Military leadership is not one of them.
I do not find it bothersome to see a woman in a high ranking military position.
What I find bothersome is this being on CNN, which to me automatically creates suspicion. At first I thought this would be one of those tranny things. But she appears to be genuine female.
I think they’ll develop strength enhancing exoskeletons for soldiers before you deal with those relational issues you also raise.
What could go wrong?
Drove past the HQ yesterday
Joan of Arc was pretty good.
So make women infantry units, male infantry units and do not mix. Use the female infantry to guard prisoners at the front suspected of war crimes - no trial necesary.
She was burned at the stake at age 19 so I’m not sure how good she actually was. Sort of like the Titanic’s 21 year old DeCaprio being the then best actor in the World.
well there is that
Ridiculous!!
I have no information to suggest that the General is not a very competent military administrator. What I don’t see in her service record is a lot of actual combat experience. I believe she was in theatre a couple of times, but from the sketchy details I’ve seen its impossible to know if she was ever in harms way. It would be very informative if others who know more about her career could fill in some of the gaps. Is she the real deal or another Armchair General? There are male Generals who have had limited combat experience, so it wouldn’t be unprecedented, but is the promotion she just received usually reserved for someone with significant combat experience? Thanks.
Totally agree.
Look at Boadiccea.
