Will the Blue Wave collapse before it reaches the shore?
The Washington Post ^ | 16 October 2018 | Megan McArdle

One can only assume that in the Kavanaugh home, there's a horseshoe over every door, a rabbit's foot in every pocket and a lawn entirely planted with four-leaf clover. There were half a dozen times during Brett M. Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination battle when most experts were certain he'd have to be withdrawn. Republicans already faced a likely Democratic wave in the midterms, and standing by Kavanaugh would all but concede not only the House but also possibly the Senate.

Yet somehow he was confirmed. And his party's luck is even more astonishing. Far from turning the Blue Wave into an Indigo Tsunami, the Kavanaugh fight seems to have produced a Red Undertow. As of this writing, that backwash looks strong enough to check Democratic advances in the Senate and maybe even gain a couple of seats. If Republicans are very lucky, they might even retain control of the House.

The GOP shouldn't be too surprised at such turns given its hard schooling in 2016 about the limits of establishment expertise. But Democrats have so far avoided taking similar lessons. Hillary Clinton's defeat could be explained by historical accidents instead. The party settled on a comforting narrative: Russian interference in the election, and an untimely FBI announcement about Clinton's illegal email server, had combined with the archaic electoral college to hand Donald Trump a narrow win despite his losing the popular vote. Bad luck, of course, but not much to be learned except that sometimes life is unfair.

Don't listen to "experts". They were very, very wrong in 2016.

Where’s Paul Ryan been?

He hasn’t lifted a finger to help Republicans in the House.

‘There were half a dozen times during Brett M. Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination battle when most experts were certain he’d have to be withdrawn.’

Notice how instead of engaging in some basic introspection - that maybe, as usual, the ‘experts’ were wrong - it’s luck...

On November 7, it will become clear if we were gaslit all along by the Democrats and the fake news media.

-—”Of course, we should fight misogyny and racism whether or not it’s politically expedient. These are important moral issues.”-—

Yeah, we should.

But what the Dems haven’t learned is that the “fight” will backfire if they insist on lobbing unfair accusations and pathologically inventing “racism” and “misogyny’ where it doesn’t exist.

Something about boys crying wolf, and all that.

“Only if we VOTE. “

Florida mail-in ballots are running 40k ahead for Republicans.

I believe we’ll hold the Senate. I see plenty of confidence around here regarding the House — I would advise to temper that or possibly be in for a disappointment.

But yet, the Republican voters--upset at the Kavanaugh debacle and the continued insanity of Antifa activities--are angry enough to vote in huge numbers.

The best minds in the weaponized FBI certainly thought so. Their never-ending attempts to subvert the 2016 election results cratered again. Ford, with her contrived baby-girl voice and her expertly purged social media, courtesy of the FBI, couldn't destroy Kavenaugh.

We now wait 3 weeks for the final verdict on bringing down the Deep State or allowing it to fester. Blocking the Dem takeover of the House will ensure the rat-infested FBI isn't provided cover to continue its attempted coup.

“...it’s luck...”

And, don’t forget...”...combined with the archaic electoral college to hand Donald Trump a narrow win...”

If the electoral college had handed Hillary the election, the Dems would be lauding it as the single greatest invention since sliced (white) bread.

What would FR be without the negative Nellies? We are going to pick up between 6-12 House seats.

I suspect that Trump has his own “October Surprise” reserved for the last week before the election. He might just release the redacted emails and try to show the Democdrats for what they are...

Maybe. Then again, maybe we lose the House. The confidence around here is running so high that, if you were not told the date, you could be forgiven for believing that the election already happened and we won. Tempered expections assuage disappointment and sweeten victory that much more.

Same could be said for those who think we already lost. BTW I have been right on the last 8 elections, how about you? You probably thought Hillary would win.

Why would I consider Democrat political operatives now posing as “journalists” to be “experts” on a Supreme Court nomination?
