White House chief of staff John Kelly and White House national security adviser John Bolton hurled expletives at one another during a loud argument outside the Oval Office on Thursday.
The exchange between the two was so heated, White House aides were concerned that either Kelly or Bolton would depart their posts immediately, Bloomberg reports.
Sources said the dispute began over a disagreement on how to handle the surge in border crossings, and Bolton was critical of how Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was handling her job. President Trump, who earlier in the day threatened to close our southern border as a Honduran caravan approaches, picked Bolton's side on the matter.

“if Khashoggi had anything other than a lingering death, the Saudi government went too easy on him.”
Concur. I’m glad the radical rat bastard is dead. I don’t get why Lindsey and friends are clutching their pearls over this.
To me, this seems a bit like a trap for PDJT. Can’t explain why/how, but it seems suspicious. People are waiting for him to do the PC-incorrect thing and then they’ll jump on him.
“I had read that she was soft on immigration before she was even nominated.”
IIRC, when her name first came up, most FReepers were critical. Trump canm do better.
The whole thing is made up, just like the other stories about discord in the White House. People should be calling BS on this kind of stuff.
Good...I am glad that there are opposing views on potential policy within the Whitehouse. The President is the ultimate authority, but he needs to hear arguments from whatever side he can hear. His advisors, etc, due him service by advocating opposing policy views, rather than being “yes men”
What I do expect though, is that once a Presidential decision is made, all parties march forth to carry out that decisio, whether they advocated for it or not. That, and do it with a smile.
So does this American.
I don’t think lack of money is the problem. But it is still Congress’ problem as they need to create a law that immediately sends them back to their country of origin if they enter this country illegally. No more staying here and fighting in the legal system.
“I don’t get why Lindsey and friends are clutching their pearls over this.”
It has to do with the Lockheed/Martin air defense system that Saudi Arabia was supposed to purchase. Saudis are dragging their feet, the deadline for signing off on it has passed, and instead MBS has been having some talks with the Russians about looking into purchasing the Russian S-400 system.
Lockheed/Martin is one of Lindsey’s biggest campaign contributors. When Lindsey says MBS must go, it’s a way of leveraging pressure on the Saudis to go with Lockheed/Martin.
Ohhhh. “Follow the money”, huh? I should’ve known.
The kelly-bolton showdown is good for trump
And “Sources said the dispute began...”. It HAS to be true. They’ve got sources.
Healthy (aka combative) opinions among those providing information for decisions is good thing.
Other’s may argue otherwise, but varying opinions are the foundation of good decisions. I say, bring in more arguments.
bttt — it won’t hurt Republicans politically (Trump supporter will continue to be attacked physically however).
“Bolton is right. Nielsen’s middle name is “I love DACA’. She really needs to exit. It was a mistake to put her in that position in the first place.”
You’re right.
And we should believe it because the Washington Examiner said it happened?
>>President Trump has a lot of house cleaning to do, and time’s a wastin’.<<
Trump himself is to a large extent responsible for the house being in need of a good cleaning.
>> A realist would have no problem applauding Khashoggis demise, given his Muslim Brotherhood terrorist background. Whereas idealists like Rubio and Graham seem to be up in arms about his death. My personal view is that if Khashoggi had anything other than a lingering death, the Saudi government went too easy on him.<<
Yes, it is precisely because I am a realist that I agree wholeheartedly with your post. There is no rational reason why President Trump should permit the death of this jihadist to adversely influence our foreign policy in the Middle East.
>>Patton never got that memo.<<
LMAO! That was a good one.
Patton once said that an officer should be able to give a 15 minute profanity laden dressing down without repeating a single profanity.
This has been posed here before: No country can survive if it fails to protect its borders.
Trump needs to find a core group of Congress critters who would submit corrections as a bill and very publicly and loudly (with Trumps' support at every opportunity) push HARD on it. (McCarthy's new bill is a start, but only that. I do hear it being supported by radio ads.)
