The Telephone Consumer Protection Act bans the use of “automated telephone equipment to send texts or calls to a person’s cellphone without their permission except for emergency purposes,” according to The Star-Telegram.

This is not the first time O’Rourke’s campaign has faced backlash for claims of inappropriate use of text messages. The campaign came under fire in September for allegedly sending a text message to voters asking for “volunteers to help transport undocumented immigrants” to the polls, according to The New York Times.

If you sign up on the Internet, you can get on someone’s mailing list.

Just remember, you have no expectation of privacy online.

“Just remember, you have no expectation of privacy online.”

I don’t believe you are correct, since they are using your private telephone number to reach you. As such, these “illegal contacts” are not “on-line.” Text messages to you phone are not like being on Facebook or some other social media outlet.

The Beto-bots are all over Texas. All dress the same. Drive the same cars. Probably all have the same sexual preferences too lol.

A smartphone like an iPhone or Google Android phone is for all practical purposes, a portable handheld computer.

“A smartphone like an iPhone or Google Android phone is for all practical purposes, a portable handheld computer.”

So? When it comes to text messaging, it’s just a phone taking a “call” through it’s assigned number from another phone number. If the messaging comes to the smart phone via the Internet, that’s a different mechanism, but with IM it’s not!

Only a politician would think they could annoy you into voting for them. If I was truly on the fence about whom to vote for a robocall or spam text would assure my vote against you.
