The Saudis could have killed Khashoggi anywhere in the world using a cutout that could not be traced back to the Saudi government. Why kill him in a Saudi consulate in Istanbul? It makes no sense unless there was another agenda, i.e., removing the current CP.
Why Khashoggi and why now? There is much more to this story and I doubt we will ever learn the answers. It is all part of Saudi palace intrigue.
Interesting to note that Brennan was the station chief in Riyadh 1996-99, not long after I left the Kingdom in 1992.
