Reaction time is nice, but doesn’t translate to the same thing as a blood alcohol test. Tests tell whether they’re high,..just not how high. Ya, know they said the exact same damn thing about cigarettes.

I think that they even said that cigarettes are “medical.” The cannabis sellers should learn from tobacco and stop with the lies. Lies that could get them in trouble in the future.

And with that in mind, I may pose the very question to those in the business. I will point out too, that everything that they say “can and will be used against them”

I would expect some legalese answer or a bunch of hemming and hawing. Because they know that it is harmful.

I see plenty of stupid and oblivious drivers around here. Some are drunk or texting or just plain poor drivers. I am all for harsh penalties for impaired driving esp. when they cause accidents. And I view texting as an impairment. But I am against the WOD because it turns into a war on the people. Our civil rights get infringed. I don’t smoke pot but I have no problem with my friends that do. I know they don’t act impaired and they don’t have accidents.

During the Opium Wars there were many Chinese with the same attitude about a WOD
Let the inferior dogs who eat opium waste away and die

Criminalizing some drugs is not a victimless war
You and your loved ones eventually become victims
It is an effort to preserve society from those who peddle vice
In order for evil to succeed ( and grow) all good men have to do is nothing

Is it your civil right to live among people using heoin, cocaine, fentanyl and dying by the tens of thousands because its not illegal

It’s simple, don’t drive under the influence of anything.

It’s only natural. The “partakers” drive twice the mileage in search of munchies as the non-partakers do. And higher mileage always leads to more accidents.

Agreed. But your response is a distraction- obfuscating the real facts, a good play taken directly from the leftist guide book, it appears.

Responsible drivers ought to be paying attention to the road and other travelers, and in a competent state of mind as well. Due process resolves those incidents too.

But then some folks complain that we are a much too litigious society..... Want it both ways, but are first to squeal when they are the injured party.

The problem with all drugs is that they are not a momentary effector of ability and reason, they effect the user for varying periods.

And those folks are either held criminally or civilly responsible. What’s your point?

Simple possession of arms is not a causative factor in shootings- illegal or unreasonable use thereof is. Mere possession of weed is not either, but smoke it and it is no longer a binary choice or process. You can’t turn it off once used until metabolics eliminate it from the system.

Ownership and possession of arms ( right to defend one’s life) is a natural and essential right, the choice to alter your mind and change your Affect and discourse in society via recreational drugs is not.

Because ADDING stoned drivers to alcohol impaired drivers on our roads is not only FAIR it's a good idea! /sarc
seriously-how many pro pot people will be ok with stoned school bus drivers taking their kids to school? Or airline pilots at 30,ooo ft? Same as tobacco, right?
A stoned populace is a controllable populace.

Ok...

If it is legal, then you have no “right” to tell someone they cannot use it, especially if they aren’t endangering anyone.

But you are leaning on the “muh saftey” argument is no different than the anti gun groups are.

The only difference between firearms and weed is one is in the constitution, and makes it a lot harder to abridged.

Both of you are looking to control others by acting like your life is in immediate danger if someone, somewhere is engaging in some activity you dont like without your control, even if it affects no one.

But, it does all too often affect others. Just as we have laws regarding the exercise of all natural rights. That is the cost of living in society. We implicitly or explicitly give up some portion of rights to enjoy the exercise of the rest.

“But, it does all too often affect others.”

Just like a firearm is used by criminals, and a drunkard can beat his wife and kids.

What is your point?

Because something can be used to hurt someone else, it should be illegal?

We have laws on the books to deal with people that will do bad things while intoxicated.

Beyond that, this is just a matter of you not liking the idea of people smoking pot. Ok, I get that. But if you aren’t endangering anyone, then treat it like anyone else having beer, wine, bourbon, or any other alcohol in terms of the law and just mind your own business.

Not sure what right we “explicitly give up” to have people dictate to others what they can do in the privacy of their own home.

Can that behavior be kept to the confines of your own home? ( Meaning not infringing on others right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Hence, some / many behaviors are indeed infringed by the people for the general welfare.

And, folks who illegally use arms in crime are punishable for both the crime and being armed.... Your examples hang yourself. And yes, the right to legitimate defense of self ought not be infringed, even for felons, but keeping arms from them while in custody is required.

“And, folks who illegally use arms in crime are punishable for both the crime and being armed.”

And public intoxication and DUIs are also illegal.

Ergo, if they aren’t in public, or operating anything, then you have no business getting into theirs.

That is the point.
