We’re going to need to decentralize sooner than later. This will just keep happening. The snowball rolls downhill.

The same folks that own the democrat party have huge stakes in twitter. You did not think they are going to allow a competitor to take hold, did you

You can be forced to bake a pervert wedding cake, but you can’t be forced to host website you disagree with.

Back in the 90’s I predicted that the internet would be a beacon of free thought and expression, unfiltered... and that when the Left realized this they would move to shut it down.

It took longer than I thought, but here we are.

Much garbage on Gab, but you can block what you don’t like. So now, all forums are censored. That is, all right minded speech is censored.

It’s not dead. Online free speech has ALWAYS been subject to your ability to own it yourself. As soon as you’re hosted you’re subject to their rules. Own your own server, own your own connection, get the free speech you want. Nothing has changed on that front for 25 years.

What kind of money are we talking talking about, to start up an new ISP to host their own site on? Can start up money be raised by offering stock in Gab or is that not the way to go? Would control be lost to the big tech conglomerates through stock offerings? Surely there has to be a way to break the death choke hold big tech has on this area of the internet and our rights to free speech. Congress isn't going to fix this problem as big tech already owns Congress and the sheeple are way too stupid to see it IMHO.

I sure hope a way can be found to resolve this major roadblock. I may be wrong but this sure seems like a clear cut violation of our rights under the 1st Amendment and are being violated and under the Voting rights act as well by not allowing our right to free political discourse of our own choosing. End of rant and royally pissed off.

GAB turned into an anti Jewish hate rant, I walked away from it. Free speech is great until it turns into pure hate speech and pushes violence. Maybe the first p amendment has no bounds but common decency does and I don’t need crap like I was seeing there on my computer.

It’s private companies - Paypal, Joyent - doing what private companies are free to do, end their commercial ties with a customer when it no longer makes business sense to continue it.

We all need to keep checking back in on Gab.com continuously or daily until it can find a workable solution to this major problem. Until then it is going to leave a big void in our lives.

New hosting provider secured. Working around the clock to see to it that Gab.com stays online. You can’t stop the power of The People in their fight for freedom and liberty against tyranny.

Yet there will be plenty of people here who will passionately defend the Big Tech monopolies as being “just private companies” and who will claim that anybody else can just start up their own company to compete.....even though we are seeing as in the example of Gab, the barriers to entry to compete against these monopolies are quite high.

This willful self defeating blindness on the part of some in a misguided defense of supposedly “free” markets which are anything but is truly remarkable.

Big Tech needs to suffer the consequences of running monopolies and engaging in censorship - that is heavy federal regulation to prevent censorship or breaking them up via antitrust actions from the DOJ.

Gab is now completely off line as of a short while ago so as to finish the migration. Their current provider them gave only 48 hours to vacate and that is not nearly enough time. So they have a placeholder on the domain name telling everyone what is happening and they will be back possibly in a few short days. Hang tight is about all one can do but don’t forget to get and vote if you haven’t already and show the free speech killers that Gab is not going away. At least just not yet.
