I went to Gab and it had potential. Those of us who are really badly shadow banned on Twitter were looking to go somewhere. But the anti-semitism was everywhere. Just some horrible people defending Hitler, claiming he was misunderstood, and all kinds of nonsense. You had to read the time line of anyone who followed you very carefully.

I like what Torba was trying to do, but boundaries have to be set. On Twitter I’ve tried to reclaim the word “retarded” from political correctness, but my tweets go nowhere. Thry allow the left to do as it pleases, but heavily censor the right. Gab went the other way, because any leftist would get pummeled. Torba says Gab is coming back, but I don’t believe they will.

Interesting chart. The one surprise for me is the high number for Nationalist China of 10 million people. I would have thought that they would have been at the Franco or Pinochet level of 50-200,000, but China has far more population than either Spain or Chile.

That was my experience with Gab as well.

Got kicked off Twitter last week. Checked and was shadow banned too. I'm done with Twitter. Never did FB. Looking for other options to debate the misguided.

Allowing speech nobody finds objectionable is easy. It’s allowing what people find object-able, is the true test of both free speech and Liberty.

Gab.com is a raging dumpster fire.

In the past, I have advocated that for people that want to leave facebook, twitter, etcetc for more fertile grounds then Orwellian controlled leftist tech media sites should check out Gab.com.

I am fervently against that platform as of now.

Instead of being a place that champions free speech, it is a place that harbours neo nazi scum and defends their threats, incitements to violence, and allows them to radicalize others.

Over the past few months on Gab preceding the evil events of yesterday, I had been subjected to an increasing amount of harassment and attempts to intimidate me(lol) there.

The neo nazis on Gab had been allowed to openly make threats without any repercussion from Gab itself, even when such were reported to the administrators there, the perpetrators of the threats were never removed from the site, meanwhile, Gab found it appropriate to censor -yes censor- me for challenging the nazis' way of thinking there.

They did this by marking two of my accounts "NSFW", literally blanking out my posts to the public eye, meanwhile, they never even took this action against those making actual threats. And yes, I have multiple screen shots of the threats made.

Today, as Gab is in turmoil from being dumped by paypal and is having to find a new host for its trash bin collection of alt-right retards and neo nazi fuckwits, I logged in for the last time to see that one of the groups there, calling itself "gabstapo", had 11 tally marks on its group header, literally celebrating the mass murder of the 11 innocent people killed in a house of worship yesterday.

And still, Gab does nothing.

This is because Gab.com was made for the nazis, by a nazi.

This is exactly what tore it for me with Gab. Because I was very aggressive for muting anyone racist, anti-Semetic or vaguely Nazi and because I confined myself to a small corner of Gab that reflected my narrow interests in social media, I never saw or paid much attention to many of the posters there.

Then one of "those idiots" shot a bunch of innocents at a bris and I took another look around. Ten minutes later I was gone. There are some truly decent people over there, but they need to get the hell out.

I acted as an admin to a couple groups there and was unable to use the mute function because if I did, I could not see bad actors that needed to be removed from the group. So, I saw it all. I have multiple screen shots of direct threats and other incitements to violent action saved in a folder on my computer. Each and every one of those threats were duly reported to gab itself, but gab never took any action at all, unless, of course, the activity got the attention of gabs hosts or other providers, and they threatened to pull the rug out from under gab. Allowing the neo nazis there to foment violence unchecked DIRECTLY led to the mass shooting that occurred, IMHO.

Gab attracted neo nazis and alt-right retards, on purpose, did no real moderation of the conversation there, and when it devolved into a total shitshow that fomented a mass murder the owners acted like they did nothing whatsoever to instigate it. I never bothered to count, but I imagine it was a couple hundred or more. I completely concur with your other points, for reasons I've mentioned elsewhere. You can't pretend to own something, take no responsibility for it, then act shocked when someone turns it to their own ends and abuses it.

They don't lose their accounts, nor do they delete the threats, for the most part.

Gab is offline because they allowed an out-of-control gang of neo-Nazis to set up shop as the sub-group called "the #Gabstapo." There were almost 900 members. This is the cesspool that Robert Bowers swam in. They all affirmed their sick beliefs, and encouraged them to get crazier and crazier. A similar dynamic happened on Stormfront with Dylan Roof. Eventually, Roof and Bowers said, "enough talk, I'm going in." And they did.

The FBI has vacuumed every post ever made on Gab, and it's all going to come out as part of both the prosecution case and Bowers' insanity defense. The Gabstapo literally posted memes of ovens and gas chambers, stating that all the Jews needed to be exterminated. There were no moderators on Gab to rein them in. The mute/block functions only hid the malignancy, but did not correct it. I had muted dozens and dozens of these guys. As soon as I heard about FreeZoxee, I left Gab.

Gab had no "report" button or function. You could mute/block these "GAS THE JEWS!" Nazis, but this only hid the problem from general sight. It will all come out. Gab set up a subset no different from Stormfront on their site, unmoderated, uncontrolled, where these sick Nazi freaks outdid one another with gas chamber, Zyklon B and Jews in ovens memes and videos. It will all come out. If you are defending these sick Nazi freaks who proclaimed daily that the evil Jews should all be killed, say so. Eventually Robert Bowers, like Dylan Roof on Stormfront, was whipped to such a frenzy that they both "went in." It's all going to come out. Just wait. There are literally 100s of memes like this all over the Gabstapo on Gab, and almost as many videos.

It permitted a "Stormfront" to grow inside of it, where sick Nazi freaks outdid one another posting "Gas the Jews!" memes and videos. Do you understand the difference between a private website with under a million users, and a mega website that is virtually a public utility like Facebook and Twitter?

Should Christian bakers be forced by the government to bake homosexual wedding cakes? That's private property, right? Well, Gab had the choice, and they chose to let a Stormfront grow inside, where Bowers was inflamed to action, in the same way Dylan Roof was inflamed to action in Charleston. Their psychological histories are both visible in their online posting. Gab had no moderators, no checks, no reporting function. You could mute and block the Nazi freaks, but they just festered and grew like a cancer, until one of them, egged on by the others, "went in."

One of them posted to me I was going in the ovens with my wife. What did Gab do? Zero.
