Christian News Site ‘LifeSite’ Blacklisted by Web Host
Breitbart ^ | Oct 29, 2018 | by Charlie Nash

Posted on 10/29/2018 4:16:40 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

LifeSite, a Christian pro-life news outlet, was allegedly blacklisted by its web host and given just 12 hours to find another host the website, or risk being offline. “LifeSite just received an email at 8:30 p.m. EST from our web-hosting company alerting us that they will be taking our website down within 12 hours, if not sooner,” claimed LifeSite in a statement, Saturday. “We received absolutely no forewarning whatsoever about this decision.”

“Our web developer is scrambling right now to set up a possibly-needed temporary solution to keep the website live. However, we’re going to have to go through the ordeal and expense of moving server companies,” the news outlet continued. “We also intend to fight these attacks, which will carry significant legal costs.”

In an update made following the original statement, LifeSite added, “Our web developer was up all night implementing temporary measures to keep our site online even if our current web-hosting company followed through on its threat to shut down our services. We are extremely grateful for his hard work on a Saturday night. However, this is only a temporary solution. We are currently looking for a web-hosting company that will not cave to threats of this kind.”

On its website, LifeSite describes itself as a “non-profit Internet service dedicated to issues of culture, life, and family,” launched by the pro-life Campaign Life Coalition in 1997, which “emphasizes the social worth of traditional Judeo-Christian principles but is also respectful of all authentic religions and cultures that esteem life, family and universal norms of morality.”

LifeSite was not the only website blacklisted by its web host this week, with free speech social network Gab losing its web host Joyent late on Saturday and being given until just Monday morning to migrate to another host.

There’s a lot of faith material in the nightly canteens, which is great... one of the great things is that it isn’t relegated to a Religion category. Religion is an uncomfortable word in a Christian context. And yet the concept persists, though as I keep going in the Lord I am more and more inclined to use denominational references as secondary adjectives e.g. Roman Catholic Christians, Protestant Christians, Orthodox Christians. If we are any of these, we doubtless see things in the other branches we don’t like. Yet somehow C. S. Lewis saw past this kind of issue and wrote cogent works on that basis. Truth be told, all have room to cry “Amazing grace!” if they are honest. Nobody has the holiness required to see the Lord, unless the Lord imparts it by grace and bearing away our sins.

Even better... pray up for the glorification of God in FR.

Sometimes folks spend so much time “being conservative” that they forget what’s actually to conserve. All rights are subservient to, and branch from, the glorification of God. Even the Declaration of Independence pointed at a Creator when it took umbrage at what King George was doing with the rights of the colonists. “He has created us and not we ourselves” avers the scripture.

Are we gonna BELIEVE it?

I am wondering when conservatives are going to wake up, put some nickels together, and get into the information technology business. 63 million voters is a HUGE market.

Is political speech something that cannot be discriminated against? Somewhere I read it may not be...gender, race, religion are, but not sure about political affiliation.

Lifesite and Gab are very different. You don’t see anti-Jewish rhetoric and porn on Lifesite. It is a religious-oriented site that will present interesting 1st amendment issues, much like bakers, photographers, etc. here though comes bigger issue of what host allows and not. Are they discriminating for religious reasons? And we do need to get back to bigger issue of public forums, even if privately owned, if they want to control content, then they are responsible, if they don’t want that responsibility, then no control so long as content is legal.

Thats gone as we have the “bake the fuching cake” precedent set now.

And unless they are a religious organization, private businesses cant discriminate against religious beliefs.

Not after they’ve taken your money. If they were up front sbout it they would have never taken them as clients. Now they just fail to deliver promised services they were paid for. They knew the nature of the clients website and it was not an issue, now they change their mind and without warning change the rules midway.

I say hang em out to dry.

Aren’t there any Christian run hosting services?

You mean like https://www.christianwebhost.com?

I kind of knew this would happen. If Gab closes because of anti-Semitic hatred, then other people’s views can be used to shut down websites as well. At least until we slice and dice.

We need carefully constructed laws, and we don’t have them. Germany probably goes overboard, but we can use them as a guideline. We need to define what is actually harmful and what is harmless opinion.

Also perhaps consider making a distinction between the poster and the host.

I hate to see this happen, but politics rules everything with the Left.

Sad thing is, is that most of the people even on this site don’t believe what you are posting either. Their hearts have hardened, they have waxed cold, they are despisers of truth.

The snowflakes will find out the hard way when the 7 year covenant is revealed in due time or be a part of his “master plan”.

Yes, I expect very few will understand. As I mentioned before, I worked in a branch of a large Christian Church denomination. You would know the name.

My boss wanted me to read one of their books on Bible Prophecy.

It was pure garbage. Anyone following that book could easily accept the Antichrist as “messiah”. A complete denial of what’s coming. And he was one of their favorite writers with several books.

His book was only worthy of starting a campfire. And then, only if you got it for free.

Yes, it has always bothered me that conservatives seem to be stuck in the dark ages, particularly in the business world. Young pedes out there need to change this, and seem to be doing so, so hopefully they can drag conservatism into the 21st century.
