Except Harry Reid had a caucus of 53 to 59 Senators when he did it ...
Mitch McConnell did it with a caucus of 50 to 52 (Alabama voted in a Democrat as Senator, McCain retired to Arizona without leaving Arizona with a vote until he passed away).
