I lived through it and I still have a hard time believing this. I guess it was because news was limited to newsprint and the usual suspects on network news so it was hard to get a full picture of what was going on across the country.

Cromwell is an actor. Something about the profession (and I'm being nice calling it a profession) that causes people to think they're

1. a lot more intelligent than they really are
2. a lot more important than they really are
3. People want to hear what they say when they're not acting in some sort of entertainment
4. people have actually heard of them

The above seem to me to be symptoms of a shared psychosis among leftists in the entertainment business
