BREAKING NEWS: We will open fire on the immigrant caravan if they throw stones says Trump
Daily Mail ^ | November 1, 2018 | Geoff Earle

President Donald Trump issued a dire warning to would-be immigrants making their way toward the U.S., warning that thousands of U.S. troops being sent to the border would return fire if caravan members throw rocks at them.

Trump has already ordered thousands of troops to the southern border, and was asked after delivering a fiery speech at the White House whether he envisioned them firing on the people making there way approaching the border on foot.

'I hope not. I hope not. It's the military. I hope there won't be that. But I will tell you this: Anybody throwing stones, rocks, like they did to Mexico and the Mexican military, Mexican police – where they badly hurt police and soldiers of Mexico – we will consider that a firearm,' Trump warned.

That was more artillery talk, but yes, be armed as soon as possible. The learning comes quickly.

States and the federal government have the right to, and frequently do arrest, prosecute, and if the court agrees convict and punish individuals who are not citizens. That has been going on continuously since the founding of our nation.

If that wasn't true then the US wouldn't have any grounds to prosecute foreign terrorists, but they obviously do. You don't need a citation for that do you?

The last cases that the Supreme Court ruled upon which dealt with the scope of "jurisdiction" and birthright citizenship occurred a long time ago.

Elk v. Wilkins

United States v. Wong

More broadly, the United States Government often takes the position that even actions outside of the United States can violate US Law. For example, Mr. Mueller's group has filed indictments against Russian citizens and corporations for actions that they allegedly performed while in Russia.

So from the point of view of at least Mr. Mueller and his group, the jurisdiction of the USA for criminal prosecution extends to Russian citizens living in Russia. But that kind of "jurisdiction" is not the same as the "jurisdiction" referred to in the 14th Amendment.

>>We get just as many in a week coming across one by one I don’t want any of them. Period. Close down all immigration. Quadruple ICE and make them earn their pay by deporting every last illegal and visa overstays. End DACA. Forget the fines, put their employers in prison and shut down their companies. Rent to an illegal, same punishment as drug dealers only take the house. Not one illegal in school. Not one illegal getting government freebies. Clear them ALL out and then we’ll discuss opening LEGAL immigration again.<<

Perfectly stated policy, and one I support 100%!

>>Sounds stupid to call a rock a firearm. How about call it a violent assault and life threatening like it really is?

It was an unfortunate choice of words, but it’s just the way our President speaks. I’ve gotten used to it, and don’t get my knickers in a twist over his exact phrasing anymore.<<

Give the President a break: He was speaking metaphorically, as he often does, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that.

Give the President a break

Who are you talking to? I wasn't giving the President grief in any way.

I know that all too well. They get Trump out of the way and we are their target. They will make sure we don’t ever do this again. My main concern are my grandchildren, who have a life to live.. under oppression if the dems have the reins of power. How did we get to the place where this nation is today? How did the the few, become the many... the many who are our enemy... Everything the liberal left touches/tries, fails. Everything they do makes things worse.

obama was such a disaster, yet they have him on a pedestal, and Trump is their target. The wide divide... the huge division... it’s good vs evil.. and obama opened the door .. obama was the great divider... the evil that presented himself as the clean cut half black dude with the neat crease in his pants. Inside there was not one good thing.

One other thing.

Why did you conjoin my comment with the comment I was replying to? You made it appear as if all those words were mine, when they weren’t.

I thought that would have been clear, due to the fact that I italicized the previous poster’s comment.

Tenh first shots fired by our troops will hit women and children because they are walking at the point of the column. Stone throwers will cower in the back.

Because aircraft have to start a close air support run at the front of the column?

Because there won’t be troops in elevated positions?

Help me out here.
I can’t conceive of any reason the front rank would have to be fired upon first.

The learning does come pretty quickly - at least to be able to handle a gun safely and with some accuracy on targets. I have no idea how I would hold up under stress. I did do okay at a recreational “move and shoot” thing one Saturday. (Action Shooting International - VERY friendly for beginners). “Really - this is the first time you’ve done one of these?” “Well, to tell you the truth, it’s been a couple of months since I last shot.” Unbelievable though how accurate and fast the instructors are!!

Our local range has ladies nights and my wife has gone a couple of times to try out various pistols (pistols for free, but must used their ammo which is pricy). She doesn’t like the hard pull of revolvers, 9mm she liked to shoot, but she might have a hard time clearing a jam. The .380 worked well for her, operating the slide and latch to keep it open, etc. Maybe try a smaller 9 mm next time that she might be able to work easier?

She is still learning, but likes it.

Sorry to see you get mixed up in my comment that it was a stupid thing to say! And I agree - that is how Trump talks, and part of the reason why we like him. But it can make for dumb headlines.

After seeing the entire dialogue in post 142 (by Yossarian) it makes a lot more sense. I like how Trump mentions “breaking into their country”. It brings to my mind of someone breaking into my house. That alone would probably cause me to shoot them - which would be considered “reasonable force”. Add in that they were armed with a baseball-sized rock would seal the deal.

Thereby proving my point that these people are subject to our jurisdiction.

This isn't complicated. Regardless of what convoluted meanings people wish jurisdiction had when the 14th was drafted, today it means subject to our laws and justice system.

OMG, I’m a moron.

I only understood about half of what you are saying.

But it sounds like learning is fun?

I love this man! Acknowledging that a deadly weapon is a deadly weapon and telling our troops and the rest of the world that under this Commander the military aren’t targets for practice - they are free to fight back...

Learning ANYTHING is fun!

One of the first things my son does with a new female friend is take them out shooting.

“Oh - well I don’t really like guns.”
“Have you ever shot one?”
“Well, um, no.”

They all have loved it. At the one range the other guys there will always pickup on them being new (and female), and then let them try their pistols.

But even my son, being a bit new - the older guys let them shoot their guns. Very friendly folks.
